Man United Champions League fan guide: Cost of following Michael Carrick’s side in 2026-27 tournament

Manchester United are back in the UEFA Champions League this season, much to the delight of their match-going supporters, who have European away matches back on the agenda after a season of no European football.

Following the draw on Thursday, the Red Devils know exactly who they will be playing during the league phase, with standout ties including a home match against Bayern Munich and an away clash with Atletico Madrid.

If you are looking to attend all of United's Champions League matches this season, here is what it might cost you.

Manchester United Champions League fixtures 2026/27

Champions League dates are yet to be confirmed, but here are United's fixtures for the league phase of the competition:

Home: Bayern Munich, Roma, RB Leipzig, Sabah

Away: Atletico Madrid, Sporting Lisbon, Villarreal, Como

Budget option (£1,500)

This could change signficantly once dates are confirmed and plane costs soar, but for now, we think it is reasonable to predict you could attend all eight matches for around £1,500.

The average price for home Man Utd matches in the UEFA Champions League is around £45, but to access them you must have a membership (£37.50). So, if for the home games, you just went to the games without spending a penny on food, drink or merch, you could do it for around £220.

That would leave around £1,300 for the away matches, which averages out at £325 per trip. At the moment, that is doable, as United fans don't face any trips to obscure places. Flights to Portugal, Spain and Italy are usually cheap from Manchester Airport and can often be secured for under £100 return.

Based on this ‘budget' experience, we assume you are okay with staying in a cheap hostel and buying as little food and drink as possible in each city. If this is the case, £325 should comfortably do the trip, with ticket prices capped at £42 for visiting supporters in UEFA competitions.

This is the “I want to go to everything but spend as little as reasonably possible” option.

Middle-ground option (£2,500)

This is more realistically what fans are going to be looking at, particularly those who go to European away matches for the experience of the trip as much as the football.

Flight prices are almost certainly going to be closer to £250 return for each trip, while checking in luggage can cost around £40 per flight.

Staying in a reasonably nice hotel (3/4 star) (£100ish per night) is also going to be more relaxing and enjoyable than a hostel, while sightseeing and food/drink costs can comfortably exceed £100 a day on a European trip, too.

This price is still based on taking it easy during home matches, but the odd pint won't hurt.

Luxury option (£10,000)

If you want to live like a God for the next four months, you could easily plunge £10,000 or more into following Manchester United in the Champions League.

Hospitality tickets at Old Trafford for each league phase match will exceed £1,000 per game, while luxury hotels abroad could cost you £500 per night, particularly in capital cities, Madrid and Lisbon.

If you're living it large, you are also going to find the best restaurants in each city you visit, while private airport transfers are also pricey.
