There are almost 4,000 Manchester United fans in Munich as the Reds return to the UEFA Champions League after a one-year absence in a group with Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray.
It's the clear headline tie of the Wednesday night action in Europe's elite club competition, with kick-off on Wednesday 20 September at 8pm BST.
How many Manchester United fans in Munich?
Manchester United received an allocation of 3,779 tickets for their game at Bayern Munich, and although demand has been slightly tempered by extortionate flight and accommodation prices due to Oktoberfest, that allocation quickly sold out.
Expensive it might be, but the chance to experience a mouth-watering clash at the fantastic Allianz Arena and the iconic Oktoberfest in Bavaria is a rare one, and many Reds have snapped up the opportunity.
Fans began travelling on Sunday after United's home Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.
Some supporters have been able to take advantage of the direct flights between Manchester and Munich but due to high prices, many have been forced to seek alternative routes. That includes the more basic ones such as travelling down to London to fly from there, but also some more inventive ones.
We've heard of fans flying from London to Frankfurt on the morning of the game, travelling by train to Munich before a 4am train back to Frankfurt a few hours after full-time to catch another flight home. Others will travel the full distance by train, while some Europe-based Reds are driving.
Where do the Manchester United fans sit in the Allianz Arena?
United fans will be sat and stood high up in the Allianz Arena away section.

Where to eat & drink for Manchester United fans in Munich
Visiting fans in Munich normally congregate around the Marienplatz and the English Gardens. This is likely again for United fans in September 2023.
Otherwise, the whole city will be filled with people revelling in Oktoberfest, at the official site in the south but also across the Bavarian capital.
Guide to Manchesterplatz and Munich Air Disaster memorials in Munich
United fans are no strangers to Munich, visiting most recently in 2014, but also several times before that.
Furthermore, many Reds make the pilgrimage over every February to visit the site of the 1958 Munich Air Disaster in which eight of the club's players were killed.

Any fans hoping to pay tribute to the victims of the crash will want to visit Manchesterplatz.
A memorial was built there in 2004 on the spot where the disaster occurred, and a new street name was created as a result, Manchesterplatz. It's a tiny square tucked between two streets with no significant buildings or features apart from the monument, which offers an opportunity for poignant reflection.
Fortunately, the monument is easily accessible on Munich's excellent public transport system. Head to the U- and S-Bahn station named Trudering, and, if you need to ask for directions from locals, ask for the more well-known spot:Â Kirchtruderingerstr.
Facilities inside the Allianz Arena
There will be no alcohol on sale for visiting supporters at the Allianz Arena. Payment for non-alcoholic drinks and food will be by card only.
Ticket collection info for Manchester United fans in Munich
All Manchester United fans will have to collect their tickets in person in Munich and provide ID when doing so.
The ticket collection point is at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, Promenadepl. 2-6, 80333 MuÌnchen, Germany. The access to the ticket collection point is via a separate entrance to the main hotel reception as pictured below, but will be clear upon arrival when you see a line of fans queuing!
The ticket collection is open from 9am-7pm on Tuesday 19 September and 9am to 9:45pm on matchday itself.
As for any Reds encountering problems in Munich, they can contact Michael Leneghan, the Supporter Liaison Manager, on email at [email protected].
Will there be a hold-back at the Allianz Arena for United fans?
Visiting fans are not normally ‘held back' like at many other European groups. United have warned their supporters that there could be a hold-back of up to 30 minutes, but that this is unlikely. Later in the year when the Reds Istanbul and Galatasaray, things will be very different!
How to get to Allianz Arena: Guide for Manchester United fans in Munich
Here's some guidance on using public transport to get to the Allianz Arena, which is a bit of a distance from the city centre.
Take the Line 6 to get off at Fröttmaning. If you are in the old city centre, the Line 6 will take you to the Marienplatz and it is a 15 minute ride. If trams are preferred over the metro, it is possible to take a tram to Marienplatz from Ostbahnhof and Hauptbahnhof.
When United fans arrive at the Allianz arena, there will be signs directing them from Fröttmaning underground station. Supporters “will be directed along the Fröttmaninger Heide over the new footbridge to the visiting fansâ entrance. Arrival through this entrance is reserved solely for visiting fans in possession of valid tickets.”
