Netflix to release Jose Mourinho documentary in 2025

Popular streaming service Netflix looks set to bolster its impressive lineup of football-based documentaries and are planning on releasing a Jose Mourinho documentary in 2025.

The controversial figure is loved by many, and hated by almost just as much, but his show will likely be of interest to many fans across the world. Over the years, he has cultivated a large fanbase, with his most impressive spells coming at Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan.

Fan reaction

The self-proclaimed ‘special one' has been one of the most divisive figures in football for over two decades and as a result, the announcement that the 61-year-old will soon be getting his own documentary has received plenty of attention from football fans.

One fan took to X, formerly Twitter, to say “This will really go hard because Jose Mourinho is a legend all these current Coaches need to look up to.” While another simply said “Jose Mourinho – the most controversial manager of all time.”

However, not all reactions were so positive, which as mentioned, is hardly surprising. One fan claimed that “Nobody cares about Mourinho in 2024” while another stated that “Except for the first few years it's all moaning and moaning.”

One thing that is undeniable is the fact that once again, the ‘special one' has got people talking.

Other football documentaries on Netflix

The announcement of Mourinho's documentary comes after Netflix has been slowly but surely growing its catalogue of content in this area – much of which has been very entertaining for us fans.

Some of the more notable offerings include ‘Sunderland Till I Die', ‘Beckham', ‘Captains of the World', ‘Neymar: The Perfect Chaos' and ‘Pele'.

Netflix have plenty of competition in this area though, with Amazon Prime in particular boasting an impressive lineup itself, with several fly-on-the-wall documentaries on teams such as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City available for fans' entertainment.
