Leeds United’s Elland Road expansion project is continuing to gather pace, with the latest footage showing significant progress on the foundations around the redevelopment site.
The latest drone update suggests the piling phase could be nearing completion, with attention now beginning to turn towards the first major steelwork and the next visible stage of construction.
Elland Road piling work nears completion in new update
The latest update, filmed on October 4th, shows continued piling activity around the footprint of the new stand, alongside further site clearance and preparation work.
Numerous foundation piles are now in place, with the project remaining firmly focused on groundwork before the main superstructure begins to rise.
While there is still limited visible vertical construction, the amount of piling completed gives a clearer indication of the scale of the work taking place beneath the future structure.
The international break has also provided an opportunity for work to continue around Elland Road without the same level of matchday activity, while pitch maintenance has continued.
There is growing anticipation among supporters for the next major milestone, with the arrival of the steel framework expected to provide the first obvious indication of how the enlarged stand will eventually look.
The construction is being carried out in phases, with the intention of limiting disruption to Leeds' home fixtures and maintaining as much stadium capacity as possible throughout the redevelopment.
FGG says: Elland Road expansion now approaching an important stage
The latest update may not show the dramatic transformation supporters are waiting for, but the progress underground is arguably some of the most important work of the project.
With piling appearing to edge towards completion, Leeds are moving closer to the point where the redevelopment will become much more visible.
Once steelwork begins to rise, the scale of the new structure should become far easier to appreciate.
