After the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the U.S.A. will host another major sporting event in 2028, the Olympics. The 2028 Olympics will mark the ninth time that the tournament has taken place on American soil.
The first Olympics in the U.S.A took place in 1904 at St. Louis, with Salt Lake City hosting the most recent event in the winter of 2002. Another Olympics will take place on American soil in 2034. This will be four years after the 24th edition of the World Cup.
Like the previous Olympics, football will be one of the games to entertain fans. Keep reading to find out which stadiums in Los Angeles will host football during the 2028 Olympics.

When are the 2028 Olympic Games?

What are the 2028 Olympics football venues?
According to the Los Angeles Times and other news sources in the USA, Rose Bowl Stadium will host men's and women's football semi-finals and finals in the 2028 Olympics. It will be the third time the iconic LA venue will be used to host the Olympic Games.
In the 1984 Olympics, Rose Bowl Stadium hosted football matches. If confirmed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the venue will make history as the second in Los Angeles to have hosted the Olympic Games three consecutive times. In the 1932 Olympics, Rose Bowl Stadium hosted track cycling.

However, it is believed that the Rose Bowl will only host the semi-finals and final matches, with the ground's General Manager, Jens Weiden, stating: “It’s been out there for a while in the inner circle of our venues we’re going to be the host for the semifinals for both men’s and women’s soccer, which is great for us.”
Although the Rose Bowl was not chosen as a hosting venue for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, this may raise concerns among some supporters about its suitability. However, it is important to emphasise that the Rose Bowl is an excellent facility.
It has been used as a host for football matches on multiple occasions throughout its history, and on 4 July 2023, successfully accommodated a crowd of over 80,000 fans for a clash between LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC.
Other venues
While the 2028 Olympics football venues are yet to be fully confirmed, preliminary matches are expected to be staged across various locations in California as well as other cities in the USA.
Notable potential venues for football matches include:
- PayPal Park (San Jose)
- Snapdragon Stadium (San Diego)
- California Memorial Stadium (Berkeley)
