Although the 2024 Paris Olympics may have concluded, attention has already begun to shift towards the next event, which will see Los Angeles host the 2028 Olympics.

With that in mind, this article will run you through the 2028 Olympics football venues so you can begin your preparations for what should be an entertaining instalment of the Games.

When is the 2028 Olympics?

Given that we are still just under four years away from the Games, there is a slight chance that the exact dates could change, although that is extremely unlikely. At the time of writing, the 2028 Olympics is scheduled to start on 14 July and finish on 30 July.

What are the 2028 Olympics football venues?

According to the Los Angeles Times and other news sources in the USA, Rose Bowl Stadium will host men's and women's football semi-finals and finals in the 2028 Olympics. It will be the third time that the iconic LA venue is used to hold the Olympics.

In the 1984 Olympics, Rose Bowl Stadium hosted football matches. If confirmed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the venue will make history as the second in Los Angeles to have been used three consecutive times that the city has hosted the Olympic Games. In the 1932 Olympics, Rose Bowl Stadium hosted track cycling.

However, it is believed that the Rose Bowl will only host the semi-finals and final matches, with the ground's General Manager, Jens Weiden, stating: “It’s been out there for a while in the inner circle of our venues we’re going to be the host for the semifinals for both men’s and women’s soccer, which is great for us.”

While the fact that the Rose Bowl was not selected as a hosting venue for the 2026 World Cup, which is taking place across the United States, Mexico and Canada, will understandably cast doubt into the minds of some supporters regarding its suitability, rest assured that it is a fantastic facility.

It has been used as a host for football matches on multiple occasions throughout its history, and on 4 July 2023, successfully accommodated a crowd of over 80,000 fans for a clash between LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC.

Other venues

At this stage, it remains unclear whether the Rose Bowl will host football at the 2028 Olympics alone or whether other venues will be selected for co-hosting responsibilities.

Several other venues are likely to co-host football matches during the 2028 Olympics, especially those that hosted the 1932 event. Dignity Health Sports Park, the home of the LA Galaxy, is an ideal candidate given the stadium's world-class facilities. SoFi Stadium, Long Angeles Memorial Coliseum

Dignity Health Sports Park is a 27,000-capacity venue, while Rose Bowl has a capacity of 89,702.
