Real Sociedad tickets: Spanish side anger own fans over PSG prices

Real Sociedad have sparked controversy with their own supporters by releasing excessive ticket prices for the club's upcoming Champions League Round of 16 tie with PSG. The second leg of the tie is set to be played at the Reale Arena on the 5th of March and Real Sociedad tickets are set to cost up to €490.

The tickets have been on sale for Real Sociedad fans since the beginning of the year but there is disbelief about the price of the tickets, with the cheapest available seat €170. This is in stark contrast to the ticket prices for the club's next home match against Osasuna where the cheapest tickets are being sold for €40 and the most expensive are being sold for €90.

While the match is being called Real Sociedad's biggest match in Europe for more than 20 years, the prices are still obscene and raise questions about why the Spanish club doesn't follow the model used by most clubs whereby fixed ticket prices are decided at the beginning of each season. For some people, Real Sociedad are effectively touting their own tickets.

How much will PSG fans pay for tickets?

The controversy around the ticket prices doesn't just revolve around how much they have gone up by in comparison to normal league matches, but also about how much they are costing compared to what Real Sociedad are charging PSG fans to attend the match.

Real Sociedad have given the French club an allocation of 1,500 tickets for the match and are charging €70 per ticket. As a result, all PSG tickets for the match at the Reale Arena are set to cost a minimum of €100 less than the tickets being sold to Real Sociedad supporters.

Despite the excessive pricing, Real Sociedad have announced that they have sold out the Reale Arena for the match against PSG, proving that football clubs can treat their own fans with disdain and get away with it.
