Serie A hopefuls Venezia FC have started the construction process for their new £132.5m stadium amid their promotion push.
After years of announcements regarding a potential new stadium, finally entering the implementation phase marks a significant step towards the completion of the project.
First phase of construction begins
The first phase of construction has now officially got underway on Venezia's new £132.5m stadium, with earthworks and the installation of several thousand foundation piles.
These first activities are set to create a stable base for the construction of the stadium, which is set to hold 18,500-seats and has been designed to meet Serie A standards and provide the club with the conditions to compete at the highest level.
Venezia, who are currently first in Serie B and fighting for promotion back to the top-flight after relegation in 2024/25, will also deliver a compact, fully covered venue with modern facilities for teams, fans and the media.
The stadium is being built as part of the Bosco dello Sport complex, which is looking to transform the Tessera area into a modern sports and entertainment destination, with an indoor arena also set to arrive alongside the stadium.
FGG Says: Sign of intent
Venezia's commitment to delivering their new £132.5m stadium is a clear sign of their intent to return to the Serie A and remain among the country's elite footballing sides.
The club's off-pitch branding has already given them global recognition, and this new stadium will only increase the eyes on Venezia as they look to return to Italy's top-flight.
