Things get HEATED as Man United fans confront Jim Ratcliffe outside Craven Cottage

Things got heated at Craven Cottage as Man United fans confronted owner Jim Ratcliffe in a heated exchange after the game.

While Man United picked up a late win, fans quickly called out Ratcliffe and the club for the ticket prices. There were loud protests during the game, but it was after the game was over that fans took aim at Ratcliffe.

As shown below, fans were able to catch him as he left, and while he willingly drew down his window, thinking fans wanted a picture, he was quickly greeted by angry fans aiming abuse at him. Language warning for the video below.

Man United fans air frustration

“66 quid? Are you having a fu**ing laugh? What are you doing? You're the owners. Come on, mate, sort it out. You're worse than the Glazers, mate. Fu** you.” Fair to say that fans were not happy, and Ratcliffe was quick to put his window back up and drive off.

In the away section, Manchester United fans called for the ousting of the Glazer family, the club's current majority owners. The Glazer family has faced ongoing criticism from a substantial segment of the fanbase. Old Trafford has also been criticised since the Glazer family took overOld Trafford has begun to show signs of issues. A recent Mice Infestation was the cherry on top of the cake for many.

More recently, concerns have arisen regarding the actions of co-owner Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group, which took control of football operations after acquiring a 25 percent stake in the club in February 2024. Ratcliffe has launched a severe cost-cutting campaign, which includes job layoffs, increased ticket prices, the elimination of discounted pricing for children and seniors, and plans to reduce funding to the Manchester United Foundation charity, although the club states that ‘significant' support will continue.

The latest protest by fans

This isn't the first time Man United fans have protested recently, with protests at Old Trafford taking place to fight back against the ticket price increase. The club's choice to raise matchday ticket prices at Old Trafford to £66 per game sparked outrage among United supporters when it was revealed in December. Manchester United justified the move, stating that it impacted merely three percent of all matchday tickets.

With all that said, however, ticket prices are going up, and long-time fans are the ones who are suffering as they get pushed out for “tourist” fans who come purely to enjoy a nice day out.

FGG says: The rich get richer

Man United fans recently protested that the “debt isn't ours” in response to the ticket prices going up to pay off the club's debt. Many Man United fans had hoped that INEOS would see the end of the doom and gloom of the Glazer ownership, and given Ratcliffe is a fan of the club, hopes for high. Sadly for them, however, Ratcliffe has not been the saving grace many wanted. Despite the win against Fulham, Man United are having another terrible season and could well end it without securing European football for next season.
