Manchester United supporters wasted no time in celebrating Kobbie Mainoo’s match-winning moment against Liverpool, and they’ve already come up with a brand new chant.

The midfielder's late strike at Old Trafford not only sealed a dramatic 3-2 victory but also confirmed United’s return to the Champions League, sparking an instant reaction from the home crowd.

Kobbie Mainoo gets new chant from Manchester United supporters

Mainoo’s influence on the game, and arguably the season, was summed up perfectly in the lyrics now being sung from the stands:

“Mainoo,
United can’t play without you (x2),
And you’re breaking my heart when you don’t start,
Mainoo…”

The 21-year-old already had a chant, but it appears this one has now quickly caught on around the concourses at Old Trafford, with Red Devils fans recognising just how important the homegrown talent has become in recent weeks.

His composed finish to win the game capped off a thrilling contest, with United initially racing into a two-goal lead before being pegged back, only for Mainoo to have the final say with a clinical strike from the edge of the box.

FGG says: Kobbie Mainoo chant is well deserved

It’s rare for a new chant to land this quickly, but this one ticks most boxes, as it is simple, catchy, and has a clear message behind it.

There’s also a cheeky edge to it. The line about “breaking my heart when you don’t start” feels like a not-so-subtle nod to Ruben Amorim’s earlier reluctance to play Mainoo, something that frustrated plenty of fans at the time.

Now, with a new contract signed and interim boss Michael Carrick putting his faith in him, Mainoo looks like the heartbeat of this United side again.

If he keeps delivering moments like this, expect to be hearing that chant a lot more often at Old Trafford.
