England are all set for their World Cup quarter-final on Sunday, 5 July, with Mexico ready to welcome them to the world-famous Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

Much has been made about Mexico's imperious record at this stadium, while here has also been plenty of talk about how Thomas Tuchel's men will cope with playing at altitude.

Forgetting all of that for a minute, one thing nobody has bothered to consider is how the England fans will deal with the altitude, particularly as the effects of drinking alcohol are more severe at altitude.

Ahead of Sunday, here is a list of the best pubs and restaurants to visit before a match at the Estadio Azteca. If you are attending, take extra care.

Best pubs near the Estadio Azteca

Most fans will drink in Mexico City before a match at the Estadio Azteca, then make their way to the stadium for kick-off. The best bars in the area include:

The Duke of Lisbon

A British-style pub located in the heart of the city, this is expected to be very popular among England fans over the weekend. They also serve food and have screens which show live sport, allowing fans to watch other World Cup matches before England kick off.

Address: C. Lisboa 15, Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, 06600 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Wallace Whisky Bar

This is the place to head to if you'd rather have shorts and spirits than lagers and ales. They serve over 200 different types of Whiskey, and the overall vibe is pretty cool and worth checking out, even if just for a couple of drinks.

Address: Av. Tamaulipas 45, Colonia Condesa, Cuauhtémoc, 06140 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Toledo Rooftop

If you want a touch of class and views of Mexico City, then head to Toledo Rooftop. You will find comfortable seating in a relaxed setting, but you will be expected to behave appropriately. Not the best suggestion for large groups, but if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle, it's a good shout.

Address: Av Chapultepec 461, Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, 06600 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Best restaurants near the Estadio Azteca

Sanora Grill

If you are not overly bothered about sampling the local Mexican cuisine and would rather just make sure you're getting something substantial down you, then head to Sanora Grill. It offers burgers and steaks in a lovely setting.

Address: Paseo de La Reforma Nte 1, Tabacalera, Cuauhtémoc, 06030 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Limosneros

If you want to try something a little more creative and out there, then Limosneros is a great option. The food is Mexican, but it goes beyond tortillas and nachos.

Address: C. Allende 3, Centro Histórico de la Cdad. de México, Centro, Cuauhtémoc, 06010 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Azul Historico

While Limosneros offers a modern take on Mexican cuisine, Azul Historico is very traditional. The setting, which is an open-air courtyard underneath the trees, leans into that, too.

Address: Isabel La Católica 30, Centro Histórico de la Cdad. de México, Centro, Cuauhtémoc, 06000 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico
