The summer that Scotland fans have been counting down to since last November is finally upon us, and thousands of members of the Tartan Army have already touched down in the USA ahead of their FIFA World Cup campaign.

Scotland's World Cup begins on Saturday night (US time) at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Steve Clarke's men will take on Haiti in what feels like a must-win fixture, given that Morocco and Brazil are to come.

Just how many Scotland fans will be in Foxborough this week remains to be seen, but Hamish Husband, the spokesperson for the West of Scotland Tartan Army, has gone on record to say that up to 30,000 Scots are travelling over for the tournament.

Is Foxborough equipped to deal with such an influx of Scottish football fans? Let's take a look.

Best places to eat in Foxborough, Massachusetts

The match between Scotland and Haiti is scheduled to kick off at 21:00 local time, so all Scotland fans attending the match are going to need to find somewhere to eat pre-match. The following restaurants/bars are all worthwhile options.

Union Straw

Located around three miles away from Gillette Stadium, Union Straw is a place that caters for meat lovers. They specialise in burgers and chicken, all of which are priced reasonably for the area. Union Straw also has a huge list of cocktail options, which often results in visitors sticking around for longer than intended.

Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse

In terms of proximity to the stadium, Davio's Northern Italia Steakhouse cannot be beaten. The restaurant is less than half a mile away from Gillette Stadium and provides fans with a combination of Italian dishes, such as pizza and pasta, with traditional steaks. Prices are a little steep, but this should be expected given how close it is to the stadium.

Augusta's

For fans who are not overly bothered about going to a proper restaurant for a sit-down meal, then Augusta's is the place to go. While technically a fast food restaurant, the reviews suggest that the fried chicken here is on another level than anywhere else. The portion sizes are also excellent, and it is significantly cheaper than a standard restaurant.

FGG says: A plethora of options

The three eateries discussed above are all well worth a visit, depending on your eating intentions. Beyond these three, there are countless other bars and restaurants that Scotland fans will end up in over the next week, making this a great town to set up base in for the entirety of the World Cup.
