Three Lions return to Villa Park for World Cup Qualifier vs Andorra

Villa Park is scheduled to host a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between England and Andorra on 6 September 2025. This match will mark the second time England has played home matches away from Wembley Stadium in 2025.

Before the game against Andorra, Nottingham Forest's City Ground will welcome Senegal on 10 June.

Although this will not be the first time Aston Villa's home stadium has hosted the Three Lions, it's notable that England's senior men's team returns to Villa Park after more than twenty years. The last time England played at Aston Villa was in February 2005, during a match against the Netherlands that ended in a goalless draw.

In total, the Three Lions have played at Villa Park on nine occasions since their match against Scotland in 1989.

Historic return to Villa Park

Ahead of the upcoming match against Andorra, England head coach Thomas Tuchel expresses that returning to Villa Park after more than two decades will bring excitement to both the players and supporters.

Reflecting on his past visits to Villa Park as the former Chelsea FC manager, Tuchel notes that the stadium is rich in history and has the potential for an outstanding atmosphere. He also looks forward to creating memorable experiences for England fans.

While Villa Park may not rank among the top English stadiums in terms of atmosphere, the 42,000-seater venue is certainly a fantastic place to play matches. Unlike in 2005, when England last played at the ground, much has changed at Villa Park. Upcoming renovations are expected to further transform the venue into a 50,000-seater stadium ahead of the 2028 Euros.
