Welcome offer: Betfred wins

Betfred – 5/5

For Betfred, all new players can claim a 300% boost, which is lower than Coral's percentage-wise, yet the total reward is higher. You can get £30 in free sports bets for just a £10 initial bet with Betfred, which is why we feel that Betfred is the true winner in this category. The beauty of this style of welcome offer is that you always have the chance of winning with your first bet, and then you have another shot to win with the free bets.

18+, UK only. First sports bet of £10+ in one transaction, settled in 60 days. Odds evens (2.0) + £30 free bet paid within 10 hours of bet settlement, 7-day expiry. Payment restrictions apply. Full T&Cs apply.

Coral – 4/5

Coral is giving all new sportsbook customers a 400% boost in the form of £20 in free sports bets. This is fairly decent, especially since you only need to bet £5 on a market of 1.5 odds or higher to claim it. The only reason we haven’t given Coral a 5/5 is that the overall rewards are higher with Betfred, though Coral still offers great value for new members.

Sportsbook & odds: Coral wins

Betfred – 4/5

Betfred offers very respectable odds, especially for sports like horse racing and football, yet it doesn’t quite match up to Coral. This is why we are awarding Betfred a 4/5 in this category, for it does offer reasonable odds, but it’s not quite as valuable as others in the market. This is especially true when comparing it to Coral. On a more positive note, Betfred has a best odds guarantee for horse racing, and the sportsbook has well over 30 different sports for Betfred members to place wagers on.

Coral – 5/5

Coral has an enormous sportsbook for members to place bets in. There are more than 35 sports at the time of writing, including popular UK sports like tennis, cricket, football, and horse racing, as well as more diverse sports like handball and even chess. For a decent sports game like Premier League football, you can expect to find just shy of 200 sports markets, which is towards the higher end of the scale. Coral is well known for offering odds boosts daily, creating even greater value for current members. Not to mention their Coral sign-up offer.

Bonus for existing players: Betfred wins

Betfred – 4/5

Betfred is known among sports punters as ‘the bonus king’ all over the land, so it’s no real surprise that Betfred does very well in this category. Particularly for sports betting, Betfred offers existing player bonuses such as extra place betting, enhanced odds, accumulator boosts, mobile-only bonuses, and more. In fact, there are regularly over 10 bonuses on the go at any one time with Betfred, which is why we feel that Betfred really does deserve a 4/5 here. Check the latest free bet promo code here.

Coral – 5/5

Coral simply blows most sportsbooks out of the water when it comes to existing player offers. At the time of writing, there are a whopping 20 bonuses for sports bettors, which is a huge number compared to even the best football betting sites. Coral is a bit of a specialist at coming up with offers such as cashback, Acca boosts, in-play free bets, weekly free promotions such as ‘Correct 4’, and so much more. There is just no way we could award Coral anything less than a 5/5 for this category.

Best betting Sites: Additional features

User Experience – Coral wins

Betfred – 3/5

Betfred might have a nice-looking site, but it certainly takes a bit of getting used to. While the sportsbook is presented nicely on the left-hand side of the page, after actually clicking a sport, things can get a bit complicated. You are then faced with multiple clicks before you can find a desired match or market. This can take up quite a bit of time, yet on the flip side, it does show that Betfred offers a lot to enjoy within the sportsbook.

Coral – 4/5

Coral is much simpler to use than Betfred, and the site appears a bit more spacious, which is always nice. With that being said, Coral still isn’t overly simple to use, and there can still be a bit of a learning curve to become fully comfortable with using the sportsbook. There are fewer click-throughs required than at Betfred, which helps find markets quickly and lets you spend more time actually enjoying the site rather than being frustrated.

In-play betting – Coral wins

Betfred – 4/5

To be fair to Betfred, it offers a wealth of in-play markets for its customers to bet on. If we take a standard Premier League game as an example, there can be close to 100 in-play markets to choose from, and the odds are again reasonable. The only reason we are not giving Betfred full marks is that they don’t offer in-play markets for all sports, which is quite a contrast to what Coral has available.

Coral – 5/5

Coral has a simply enormous number of in-play markets open to members. It seems to offer in-play markets for the vast number of events it covers, which is always good when searching for betting variety. The odds are usually marginally higher than the market average, too, so if you are holding out for in-play bets, you won’t be sold short with Coral. It really is one of the better bookmakers out there for in-play bets, and you can even cash out in-play bets if your chosen selection is performing well.

Live stream – Coral wins

Betfred – 3/5

The Betfred live streaming services operate in quite a similar way to Coral. To start with, you can enjoy live streaming for free once you've opened an account. In addition, the live streaming quality is respectable on both desktop and mobile platforms with Betfred. However, you just will not find the same range with Betfred as you will with Coral, which is why we are scoring Betfred at a 3/5.

Coral – 5/5

As one of the key features that make Coral such an appealing betting site, we must stress the quality of the live streaming it provides. Besides a flawless streaming service for the majority of events it covers, you can enjoy all of this for no charge and stream thousands of events each year. Coral covers streaming for sports such as football, basketball, rugby, tennis, and much more. The best part is that live streaming is available from the Coral mobile app too, so you can watch these games while you're out and about.

Mobile application – Betfred wins

Betfred – 5/5

This was probably the hardest category to score in this review, but we have decided to give Betfred a 5/5. It's not that Betfred particularly dominates Coral in terms of features from this mobile app, but Betfred certainly blows many of the bookmakers out of the water in terms of how simple the app is to use. You can log in with a simple 4-digit code, and unlike the desktop site, where you must click through many times to find the market, they are presented much more simply in the app.

Coral – 4/5

Coral also has a quite distinguished mobile app available for Android and iOS devices. It has the same range of sports, along with many of the features that make it such an appealing site in the first place. However, in terms of the app's overall performance, we would say it isn't quite as good as what Betfred offers, which is why you see the score in front of you.

Cash-out – Coral wins

Betfred – 3/5

Betfred does provide cash-out options for players, but not quite as many as Coral. In fact, you will typically only find cashouts for major bets like moneyline, handicap, and spread. Betfred isn’t always too generous with the cashouts either, and you cannot place partial cashouts like you can on other sites.

Coral – 5/5

Coral is far superior to Betfred for cashouts, as it offers cash-out options for virtually all bets it has available. Coral also allows players to add to bets and edit them, which can alter the cash-out value in favour of the sports bettor.

Best Betting Sites: Coral – simply awesome

In the sports betting game, Coral is a much better betting site than Betfred. It offers more sports, better odds, more bonuses, and more features to help members get the most out of their online betting experience. We would definitely recommend giving Coral a try if you are looking for a new betting site.
