Dwight McNeil may no longer be the most popular Everton player in the world, with many Evertonians feeling that the time has come for the winger to move on to pastures new, but it hasn't always been this way.
Back when he first signed for the club from Burnley in 2022, the Everton faithful were excited about the prospect of having him running down the left flank.

As mentioned earlier, the chant was created during the second half of Dwight McNeil's first season at Goodison Park, when he began to shine under the guidance of Sean Dyche.
The player ended that season with the most goal contributions in the Everton squad (seven goals and three assists) and was arguably the biggest reason why the club avoided relegation to the Championship.
Therefore, it's no surprise that Everton fans were keen to sing about McNeil. The former Burnley man is a big fan of the chant, too. In an interview back in the summer of 2023, he said:
