As one of England's oldest football clubs, Everton have a huge fanbase domestically but particularly in and around Merseyside. For more than 125 years, Evertonians have taken to the terraces at Goodison Park to belt out countless different chants to help the Toffees to victory.
In the guide below, we are going to run through some of the best and most popular Everton football chants that have stood the test of time and are still sung loud and proud today.
Everton football chants and lyrics
Grand Old Team
Arguably the most famous Everton football chant is the Grand Old Team chant which is frequently heard over the speakers at Goodison Park after a match, particularly if Everton have won. The song has become synonymous with the club and is still sung as much now as it was when it was first aired many decades ago.
“It's a grand old team to play for,
It's a grand old team to support,
And if you know the history,
It's enough to make your heart go woooooooahhhhh,
We don't care what the red sh**e say,
What the f*** do we care,
For we all know, that there's going to be a show,
When the Everton boys are there”
Spirit of the Blues
Over the past five years, the Spirit of the Blues has become one of the most popular Everton songs on the terraces at Goodison Park and in away ends across the country. It has gained in popularity among fans and has almost become the club's unofficial anthem.
“It’s good news for the Blues and there’s no more time to lose,
Cos we’re hot on the trail, and there’s no way we’re gonna fail,
So get your coat on and get moving, cos we don’t know the meaning of losing,
So come on come on, get down to Goodison Park, wooooo,
Everton, we never shone so brightly,
Everton, the spirit of the blues,
Everton, we never shone so brightly,
Everton, the spirit of the blues”

We're Forever Everton
We're Forever Everton was originally written by Graham Gouldman, which is interesting considering the guitarist is an avid Man City fan. The song is now played over the speakers at Goodison Park before matches to get the crowd up before a ball is kicked.
“We're the kings of Goodison,
We play in Royal Blue,
On the ball, the Toffeemen will play it sweet for you,
We play it on the carpet, we play it in the air,
Whichever way we play it, we play it fair and square,
Everton, Everton, we're forever Everton,
All for one, one for all,
Everton's the team that plays beautiful football”
We are the Goodison Gang
We are the Goodison Gang is a song more frequently heard on Everton away days as the travelling Toffees make their way to opposition territory.
“Marching down the Goodison Road,
All the windows open wide,
When you hear a copper shout ‘hey, put that candle out’,
We are the Goodison Gang,
We've got no manners, we spend all our tanners,
We are respected wherever we may go”
Banks of the Royal Blue Mersey
The Banks of the Royal Blue Mersey is a song mainly about Everton's hatred of their neighbours across Stanley Park, Liverpool. Although some of the lyrics are on the extreme side, some sections of the Everton fanbase consider it the best chant in their songbook.
“Oh, we hate Bill Shankly, and we hate St John,
But most of all we hate Big Ron and we'll h**g the Kopites one by one on the banks of the Royal Blue Mersey,
To Hell with Liverpool and Rangers too,
We'll throw them all in the Mersey,
And we'll fight fight fight,
with all our might for the boys in the Royal Blue Jersey”
60 grand, Seamus Coleman
Seamus Coleman is a certified Everton legend having spent the past 15 years at the club. The Irish full-back signed for the club from Shamrock Rovers for a fee of just £60,000 in one of the best value-for-money transfers in Premier League history.
“60 Grand, 60 Grand Seamus Coleman,
60 Grand, 60 Grand I say,
60 Grand, 60 Grand Seamus Coleman,
Playing football the Everton Way!”

Duncan the King
There is nothing that Everton fans love more than a big centre forward and Duncan Ferguson was the epitome of just that. The big Scot is a cult hero at Goodison Park and was often serenaded with a song that referenced him as the ‘King'.
“We'll drink, a drink, a drink,
To Duncan the King, the King, the King,
He is the leader of our football teams,
He's the greatest,
Centre Forward,
That the world has ever seen”
Super Kevin Campbell
The late, great, Kevin Campbell was another big centre-forward who was adored by Everton fans when he donned the famous blue jersey in the 1990s and 2000s. Campbell is forever etched into Everton folklore and this chant will likely be sung on the Everton terraces forever more.
“Super, Super Kev,
Super, Super Kev,
Super, Super Kev,
Super Kevin Campbell”
