Barcelona's Camp Nou redevelopment has reached another major engineering milestone, with the stadium's enormous steel compression ring now complete.

Attention is turning to the next phase of roof construction, as crews prepare to connect the structure's inner and outer rings with a network of steel cables.

Camp Nou roof structure moves one step closer to completion

The latest footage shows the completed compression ring positioned above the stadium's third tier.

The structure comprises 123 hollow steel sections supported by 46 pillars, creating the foundation for the roof's next stage.

The next phase involves installing 92 radial steel cables between the outer compression ring and an inner tension ring. Together, these components will form a bicycle-wheel-style structure, allowing the roof to span the spectator areas without support columns obstructing views.

Elsewhere, work continues on Camp Nou‘s exterior, with crews carefully aligning facade panels against the underlying framework.

Finishing work around edges, joints and other external surfaces is also progressing as the stadium gradually takes on a more unified appearance.

Inside, construction is advancing on the double VIP hospitality ring between the second and third tiers. The area is planned to cover approximately 33,000 square metres, with its opening previously projected for March 2027.

Seating installation is also underway in sections of the third tier, while work continues on lifts and escalators designed to help spectators move around the expanded stadium.

Although the compression ring represents a substantial achievement, the roof remains unfinished.

Installing the cables and completing the remaining structural work will be crucial before the stadium's overhead structure can take its final form.

Completing the compression ring gives Barcelona a major platform for the next stage of construction.

The upcoming cable installation will be particularly significant, transforming the completed ring into the framework of the roof itself.

With hospitality areas, seating and facade work also progressing, Camp Nou's renovation is advancing across several fronts.
