Barcelona are reportedly in discussions to play a friendly at some point during the La Liga break in December.

The Catalan giants are currently focused on trying to close down the five-point gap to Real Madrid in the La Liga table and ensure that they finish in the top eight of the League Phase of the Champions League.

However, off the pitch, Barcelona are still heavily hindered by financial difficulties that negatively impact complying with La Liga and UEFA's regulations as well as when it comes to signing new players.

Given the likely lucrative benefits to the club and La Liga in general, there had been excitement of extra revenue being generated from Barcelona's previously-scheduled away trip to Villarreal being moved to Miami on December 21 before the idea was ultimately scrapped.

Nevertheless, as per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are still assessing their options when it comes to raising funds from playing a match abroad, rather than at the renovated Camp Nou.

Where could Barcelona play mid-season friendly?

The report alleges that each of Peru and Morocco are on the table, but a clear preference has emerged during discussions.

A proposal from Morocco is said to make far more sense from a logistical perspective due to Barcelona's squad being able to travel to and from the country in the space of 24 hours.

That is seemingly viewed as an important factor due with Barcelona chiefs eager to ensure that any friendly that is played does not negatively impact on the squad's winter break.

An official decision is reportedly close to be revealed with Peru very much considered to be the outsiders at this point.

Furthermore, the report adds that Barcelona have already rejected a proposal from Morocco in the past due to their appearance in Asia during the summer.

Morocco's unrelenting desire to stage a Barcelona game as soon as possible is likely to work in their favour.
