Barcelona make further progress on Camp Nou redevelopment – but fans sent 105k warning

Barcelona have installed the first new seats on Camp Nou's third tier as redevelopment works accelerate on the iconic ground.

The five-time European champions returned to Camp Nou in November 2025, with the stadium operating under a reduced capacity as renovation works continue to take place.

The redevelopment is currently in Phase 1C, meaning that 62,000 spectators are able to watch Hansi Flick's side play home matches at the moment.

There is plenty of reason to book a ticket, with Barca making a sensational start to the 2026-27 term, emerging as early favourites for La Liga and Champions League glory this season.

The Spanish giants have won six straight top-flight games at the beginning of this campaign, scoring a staggering 28 goals along the way.

Much was made of Barca's failure to sign a world-class striker this summer, however, winger Raphinha has slotted into the focal point of Flick's attack seamlessly.

Barca install first seats on third tier of Camp Nou

As shown on a video published by Actualite – Barca on X, significant work on the third tier of Camp Nou has started, with the first seats installed on the Lateral stand, opposite the Main stand.

As well as a small number of seats, work is being done on specialist VIP areas in between the second and third tiers on the Lateral stand, with glass panels put in place over the summer period.

Additionally, the construction team have also started to test LED systems at nightime, with the redeveloped Camp Nou set to be a sight to behold at every hour of the day.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Camp Nou is set to remain at its current Phase 1C capacity of 62,000 for the remainder of 2026 before expansion during the next calendar year.

It is supposedly hoped that sections of the third tier can be opened to supporters during the first three months of 2027, ahead of roof works taking place over the summer of 2027.

The entire project is expected to come to a close during the summer of 2028, taking the capacity of Camp Nou up to an eye-watering 105,000 spectators.
