Crystal Palace supporters have unveiled a catchy new chant for Quinten Timber while building the atmosphere ahead of Thursday night's Europa League clash with Lyon.

The song references a potential trip to Frankfurt for the final, underlining the Eagles' growing European ambitions.

Palace fans gathered outside a pub in Lyon on the eve of their trip to the Groupama Stadium, singing their new tribute to midfielder Quinten Timber while pumping their fists, hugging and raising their drinks.

Sung to the tune of Billy Ocean's ‘Love Really Hurts Without You', the chant looks ahead to the possibility of Palace reaching the Europa League final at Waldstadion in Frankfurt later this season.

The lyrics also name-checked fellow Palace players Yeremy Pino and Jorgen Strand Larsen, alongside manager Pierre Sage, who returns to his native France to face his former club Lyon on Thursday.

“Timber, we're going to Frankfurt with you, with Pino and Strand Larsen too, and we're on the charge with Pierre Sage,” the supporters sang.

The atmosphere comes as Palace look to make it two wins from two in the Europa League League Phase.

Sage's side have started to find their rhythm, recording four wins and one draw across their last six matches in all competitions.

The reigning Conference League champions have also lost just one of their last 12 European matches, although that defeat came on their previous visit to France, a 2-1 loss against Strasbourg in November last year.

FGG says: Crystal Palace's new Timber chant is a catchy European anthem

This is exactly the sort of catchy, upbeat song that can help fuel a memorable European campaign.

The tune is instantly recognisable, the lyrics are simple enough to pick up quickly, and the Frankfurt reference gives Crystal Palace supporters something ambitious to sing about.

It is early days, but if the Eagles keep progressing in Europe, this could become a regular on their travels this season.
