Barcelona’s iconic home is beginning to take shape once again amid a huge redevelopment project.

And new footage offers a glimpse inside what could become one of the most advanced stadiums in the world.

A look at Camp Nou redevelopment ahead of 2027 completion

Work on the revamped Camp Nou began in 2023 and is expected to cost at least £1 billion by the time it is completed in 2027.

When finished, the home of FC Barcelona will hold more than 100,000 supporters and rank among the biggest stadiums anywhere in world football.

But the real focus is on what sits behind the scenes.

The new stadium is being designed as a fully integrated “smart” venue, with technology used to improve everything from crowd movement and food ordering to connectivity and sustainability.

Plans include a retractable roof fitted with solar panels, along with a rainwater harvesting system that will help power and maintain the stadium.

New footage from inside the redevelopment also shows how Barcelona are building a more modern matchday experience, with upgraded concourses, improved accessibility and enhanced digital systems throughout the ground.

FGG says: This is the direction football stadiums are heading

Plenty of clubs are building bigger stadiums, but Barcelona are trying to build a smarter one too.

The combination of scale, technology and sustainability means the new Camp Nou could set the benchmark for future stadium projects across Europe.

If it delivers on everything promised, this won’t just be a renovation of one of football’s most famous grounds, as it could become the template for the next generation of stadiums.
