Napoli's long-running search for a new home appears to have gathered fresh momentum after a series of encouraging developments.

Supporters now have renewed optimism that the club's ambitious stadium project could finally move beyond the planning stage.

Napoli handed fresh boost over new stadium plans

Napoli have received fresh encouragement in their bid to build a new stadium after the club secured support from city officials and advanced discussions over a potential site.

The Serie A outfit have signed a letter of intent with Kuwait Petroleum to assess the feasibility of developing a new stadium on the site of the former Q8 refinery, where remediation work is already well underway.

Club CEO Andrea Chiavelli confirmed Napoli recently inspected the site and believes it has the necessary characteristics for a new stadium, adding that existing design plans can be adapted for the location.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis has previously outlined ambitions for a 70,000-seat stadium featuring 120 hospitality boxes, while revealing the club already has design documentation ready to be modified for the proposed development.

Perhaps the biggest breakthrough has come from Naples mayor Gaetano Manfredi, who has publicly stated the city would support a privately funded stadium project if Napoli can present a viable proposal backed by the necessary financing.

That represents a notable shift after years of disagreement between the club and local authorities over whether Napoli should remain at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona or pursue a new home elsewhere.

Although planning approval is still required and further discussions with Kuwait Petroleum and city officials are ongoing, the latest developments have given supporters renewed hope that the long-stalled project is finally moving forward.

FGG says: The most positive signs yet for Napoli

After years of false starts and public disagreements, there finally appears to be genuine momentum behind Napoli's stadium ambitions.

Support from the city and progress on a potential site are significant steps that had previously been missing.

There's still plenty of work to do before construction can begin, but this feels like the strongest position Napoli have been in for some time. If the remaining hurdles can be cleared, a new home may finally move from ambition to reality.
