Plans are gathering pace for a major redevelopment of Leeds United’s historic home.

But while the club focuses on expansion, supporters have made it clear what really matters to them.

Five things Leeds fans want as part of Elland Road redevelopment named

Leeds United are preparing for a ‘significant' overhaul of Elland Road, with plans to expand capacity to around 53,000 and modernise key areas of the ground.

The redevelopment includes a full rebuild of the North Stand and major upgrades to the West Stand, but fans say the transformation must go beyond just adding seats.

Supporters have highlighted five key priorities, as per the Yorkshire Evening Post.

First, increased capacity remains the biggest demand, with a huge season ticket waiting list, many fans simply want more people to be able to attend matches regularly.

Second, improved connectivity is high on the list, as fans have long complained about poor WiFi and mobile signal inside the stadium, with many calling for a modern digital infrastructure.

Comfort is another major concern, with calls for more legroom and wider concourses reflecting long-standing issues with cramped conditions inside the ground.

Safe standing areas have also been widely requested, with many supporters wanting dedicated sections to enhance atmosphere while maintaining safety.

Finally, transport remains a key issue, with fans urging improvements to access routes and public transport links, with congestion around the stadium, particularly near Armley Gyratory, a persistent frustration.

FGG says: Getting the basics right will define Elland Road redevelopment project

This isn’t just about building a bigger stadium for Leeds fans, it is about building a better one.

The supporters' demands are not unrealistic at all. In fact, they’re exactly what you’d expect from a modern top-level venue – better transport, improved comfort, and reliable connectivity should be standard, not luxuries.

Safe standing, in particular, feels like a no-brainer given the atmosphere Leeds are known for, and the fact that dedicated areas are now emerging across some of the Premier League's biggest grounds, such as Anfield and Old Trafford.

If the club can deliver on even most of these points, this redevelopment could be a huge success.
