Leeds United have confirmed a new phase of rail seating installation is underway in the South Stand at Elland Road.
The work will be completed in stages across November, giving supporters a clearer timeline for when the upgraded sections will be ready.
When will Elland Road's South Stand safe standing be complete?
Leeds have begun installing additional rail seating throughout the South Stand following advice from the Sports Grounds Safety Authority, as seen in recent drone footage filmed at Elland Road.
The club first introduced a rail-seating trial in March 2022 before expanding the system across the North Stand upper tier and parts of the away section in 2024.
The latest phase will extend the provision to all sections of the South Stand, allowing supporters to stand more comfortably during key moments while retaining seating for the duration of matches.
Leeds have since confirmed that the South Stand upper tier, alongside sections FA1 and FA6 in the lower tier, will be completed ahead of the Premier League home fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 7th November.
The remaining unfinished areas of the South Stand lower tier are scheduled for completion before the subsequent home match against Coventry City on Saturday 28th November.
The club have also reassured supporters sitting in the affected areas that the new rails will not obstruct sightlines or restrict access to their seats.
The development follows the gradual expansion of safe standing at Elland Road, with the club looking to improve the matchday experience while maintaining the required seating arrangements.
FGG says: Elland Road safe standing upgrade is a welcome step for Leeds fans
The South Stand installation should be welcomed by supporters who want to generate an atmosphere while having a more secure way to stand during matches.
Rail seating offers a practical compromise between the passion of standing support and the need to maintain appropriate safety measures inside the ground.
With the work being completed in two stages during November, Leeds have provided a clear timetable for affected supporters.
The priority now is delivering the improvements on schedule without disrupting the matchday experience at Elland Road.
