Liverpool chief teases what is next in Anfield redevelopment plans as fresh claim emerges

Liverpool's major stand expansion projects may now be complete, but work around Anfield is far from over.

Reds and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) chief executive Billy Hogan has outlined the club's next priority as attention turns beyond the stadium itself.

The Liverpool CEO has revealed the club's next phase of development will centre on improving the area surrounding Anfield rather than further expanding the stadium itself.

Speaking to the BBC this week, Hogan said Liverpool are now focused on enhancing the wider footprint around Anfield, including infrastructure, transport and creating reasons for supporters and visitors to use the area on non-matchdays.

The comments come after a transformative period under FSG's ownership, which has seen both the Main Stand and Anfield Road Stand redeveloped while allowing the club to remain at its historic home.

Hogan said preserving Anfield's identity had always been a priority, praising the club's ability to modernise the stadium while keeping its connection to the surrounding community.

He also highlighted the importance of investment away from the pitch, pointing to Liverpool's financial turnaround since 2010 and the infrastructure improvements that have secured the club's long-term future at Anfield.

Rather than signalling another major stadium expansion, Hogan's remarks suggest Liverpool's attention is now shifting towards improving accessibility, the public realm and the matchday experience around the ground, while encouraging greater year-round use of the area.
