Manchester City set a new attendance record at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, when they hosted Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
The crowd edged past the previous mark set against Coventry earlier this season, while it was also one of the biggest football attendances in Europe on the day, behind only three other fixtures.
It was also City's first home league match since an independent commission found the club guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules, with the club having appealed the decision.
Etihad Stadium sets new attendance record as Manchester City beat Ipswich
According to City Xtra on X, the 60,817 crowd set a new attendance record at the Etihad Stadium.
The previous record of 60,765 was set against Coventry, meaning Saturday's attendance surpassed the mark by 52. Speaking after the match, Maresca praised the atmosphere and confirmed that it was a record attendance.
The encounter was also lively, with City recording a 3-2 victory. Phil Foden opened the scoring in the 19th minute before Erling Haaland struck twice, leaving Daizen Maeda and Zian Flemming’s efforts as mere consolation.
The result kept City top of the league table with seven wins from seven matches and made Maresca the first manager to win his opening seven Premier League games in charge of a club, according to Man City’s official website. It also matched City's best-ever winning start to a league campaign, previously achieved in 1897/98.
FGG says: City find positives amid financial uncertainty
The attendance underlines the strong support behind City following the Etihad's expansion, while the team's perfect league record has given supporters plenty to celebrate on the pitch.
With the club's financial case still subject to an appeal, the result provided another positive afternoon for Maresca's side as they look to extend their winning run.
