Supporting your team away can be quite a feat at times. Trekking up and down the country to watch your side get regularly beaten is a gruelling task, and finding that you’ve got Carlisle United away this weekend can be enough to put some people off.
But others live for those kind of days. And what better to get through that five hour train journey than a ridiculous amount of booze? That’s exactly what one Reading fan, X user @sophia_mm1, and her mates did.
What did the Reading fans take on the trip to Carlisle?

Posted around 10am, the photo shows a frankly absurd amount of alcohol that the Reading fans took on the long trip up to Carlisle.
For the three, possibly four fans that are pictured, the group have assembled a big bottle of Kraken rum, another big bottle of Disaronno, and a 2L bottle of Coca-Cola to go with it.
Alongside that, they have what appears to be six cans of Guinness, eight cans of Desperados, four bottles of Stella Artois and four big bottles of Cruzcampo.
But the group were not content with just that, adding some spirit and mixer cans just to add a bit of class to the trip. Also pictured are three Malibu and cokes, eight Bacardi and cokes, two gin and tonics, and a vodka and coke.
It appears the approach to the five-hour journey that these fans have taken is to ensure they don’t ever remember it.

How did the internet react?
Unsurprisingly, the internet was quick to respond. Some were supportive, with @thephilsblogbar commenting “That’s breakfast sorted out for some.”
Another X user, @MufasaOloba simply responded “It’s beer day.”
Others were less impressed, with @FatJanner replying “Waste of time going. They’ll be too f***ing hammered to remember getting off the train let alone the match.”
What is the significance of this game?
It will be a miracle if this lot even make it to the game, but if they do, they will be watching a tense clash at the bottom of the League One table.
Carlisle United are likely already down, and following another points deduction this week, Reading are hovering just three points above the relegation zone having played two games more than Cheltenham Town below them.
Perhaps the nerves of the occasion contributed to the Reading fans’ drinks selection this morning!
