Arsenal's new long-term agreement with Emirates is set to provide the club with a significant financial boost over the next seven years.

The deal could be worth as much as £140 million to the Gunners through the stadium naming rights alone, underlining the importance of the renewed partnership.

Emirates deal set to hand Arsenal as much as £20m per year

Arsenal could earn as much as £20 million per year from the naming rights to the Emirates Stadium under their newly extended agreement with the airline, according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson.

The Premier League champions announced a ‘landmark' renewal with Emirates last week, extending a partnership which began in 2006 through to 2033.

The agreement will see Emirates continue as Arsenal's front-of-shirt and training kit sponsor while retaining the stadium naming rights.

Borson claims the naming rights element alone could be worth around £20 million per year, meaning Arsenal could generate approximately £140 million across the seven-year extension.

He also highlighted how difficult it would be for the Gunners to replace Emirates with another stadium sponsor given the strength of the existing relationship and the brand recognition already associated with the stadium.

“If Emirates say, ‘Well, look, we're quitting on the stadium sponsorship and it's going to be called the Arsenal Stadium again', they lose something like £20million-a-year if that happened,” Borson said.

He added that a replacement sponsor would likely struggle to immediately match that figure because it would take time to establish the same level of brand recognition around the stadium.

The agreement therefore gives Arsenal valuable long-term financial certainty at a time when Premier League clubs are increasingly looking for ways to maximise commercial revenue.

FGG says: Arsenal have secured a major financial boost

A seven-year extension worth potentially £140 million from the stadium naming rights alone is a major boost for Arsenal, particularly with the club looking to remain competitive at the top of the Premier League.

Keeping Emirates on board also avoids the uncertainty and potentially lengthy process of finding a new naming-rights partner, while giving the Gunners another reliable source of revenue to invest in the squad and wider club.
