West Ham football chants: Lyrics of I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles & more

For what feels like forever, West Ham has been an influential entity in English football, from a number of their players helping the Three Lions achieve World Cup success in 1966, to their ultras being one of the main offenders during the football hooliganism epidemic in the late 20th century.

The Hammers have always played a huge role in the English football pyramid over the years, and as a result, are one of the most iconic sides in the country.

With that in mind, here are the lyrics to some of the most famous West Ham football chants, including the legendary ‘I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles'.

I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles

One of the most famous football songs in England, and by far and away the most iconic West Ham football chant is ‘I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles'.

Originally written as part of a musical on Broadway in 1918, Hammers first began to adopt the tune as their own in the 1920s – and it has been heard at the club's home stadium ever since.

The official lyrics for the chant are as follows:

I’m forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high,
Nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams,
They fade and die.

Fortunes always hiding,
I’ve looked everywhere,
I’m forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

Over Land and Sea

This chant may not be unique to the Hammers, with their London rivals Chelsea also signing the tune fairly often. But ‘Over Land and Sea' is undoubtedly one of the most frequently sung chants at the London Stadium.

It is a simple tune, yet extremely effective at getting supporters up off their feet and into a party-like mood.

The lyrics for the chant are as follows:

We all follow the West Ham,
Over land and sea,
We all follow the West Ham,
On to victory.

(altogether now)

We all follow the West Ham,
Over land and sea,
We all follow the West Ham,
On to victory.

West Ham are Massive

A self-confessed tongue-in-cheek chant, ‘West Ham are Massive' is a song that, while far from complex, is a perfect representation of the humour that is rife throughout the club's fanbase.

It is sung at virtually every home game, even against the likes of English giants Manchester United, and is a reminder that chants do not have to be complex to be effective.

The official lyrics to the song are as follows:

One, two, three, four,West Ham are massive everywhere we go,West Ham are massive everywhere we go,Everywhere we go…

One, two, three, four,West Ham are massive, everywhere we go,West Ham are massive, everywhere we go,Everywhere we go…

Bowen's on Fire

Of course, we cannot talk about current West Ham chants without touching on their song for talisman Jarrod Bowen – the man who has become an iconic figure at the club since he moved to East London in 2020 from Hull City.

The song, which does include some explicit language, pays homage to his terrific performances on the pitch over the past few years and even references his relationship with Dani Dyer – the daughter of world-famous Hammer, Danny Dyer.

Sung to the tune of ‘Freed from Desire', the official lyrics to the chant are as follows:

Bowen's on fire,

And he's sha***** Dani Dyer.

Bowen's on fire,

And he's sha***** Dani Dyer.

Bowen's on fire,

And he's sha***** Dani Dyer.

Oh,

Nanananananana, Nanananananana,

Nanananananana, Nanananananana,

Lucas Paqueta – He's One of Our Own

Lucas Paqueta is another West Ham player with a chant in his honour, with the Brazilian boasting not one but two songs in his name at the London Stadium.

It is, of course, a matter of opinion, but our pick is the ‘He's One of Our Own' song regularly sung by the Hammers.

Paying homage to his Brazilian roots, the official lyrics to the West Ham football chant are as follows:

Follow Follow Follo,

Our Brazilian Magnifico,

‘cos there's nobody better,

Than Lucas Paqueta,

And now he's one of our own.
