Here is a quick brief of the new feel of Estadi Mallorca Son Moix. The main change has been the removal of the athletic track, this was done on popular demand from the fans. This was when the stands were moved 45 meters closer to the pitch and now the atmosphere is much better.

Also, the new fourth stand which is called “L’Infern1916,” has an extra capacity of 2,760 which increases the total capacity of Estadi Mallorca Son Moix to 26,020.

The stadium also has a new sports bar, replacing the MallorCafé, a gym, and a restaurant. All of these are located in the so-called VIP Hospitality zone. Even, with their creation fans are still allowed to bring their food so the atmosphere is very homely.

Other uses for Estadi Mallorca Son Moix?

In terms of sports, Estadi Mallorca Son Moix is used only for football. The Real Mallorca stadium is also used for concerts often. Any big concern organised at the Balearic Islands is almost exclusively hosted there.

The story of Estadi Mallorca Son Moix

Built in 1999 to host multiple sports events of the1999 Summer Universiade the stadium quickly became the main home of the local football club Real Mallorca.

As the official Real Mallorca stadium guide states the club agreed on a 50-year lease of the ground and moved from their previous home. So, from the summer of 1999 onward Real Mallorca call this ground their home.

For advertising reasons, the stadium has changed names many times over the last few decades. Here is the full list of the ground’s previous names: Estadi de Son Moix (2022-present), Visit Mallorca Estadi (2020–2022), Estadi de Son Moix (2017–2020), Iberostar Estadi (2010–2017), Ono Estadi (2006–2010), Estadi de Son Moix (1999–2006).

One of the main attractions of the Real Mallorca stadium guide is the stadium tours. They are available six days a week, including on matchdays, and give detailed and intimate access.

Estadi de Son Moix stadium tours include entry into both state-of-the-art dressing rooms and a walk on the pitch through the same tunnel the players use every time.

Matchday tickets for Estadi de Son Moix can be purchased online, or directly from the Club’s Shop and the ticket offices at the gates of the stadium.

There are also half a dozen licensed vendors scattered all over Palma de Mallorca that could be selling tickets, subject to availability.

Estadi de Son Moix is situated only 3km northwest of the bustling city centre of Palma de Mallorca, the biggest of the Balearic Islands. Any taxi ride to the sports complex will take less than 15 minutes, but we strongly recommend a pleasant 30-minute walk to reach the stadium.

Real Mallorca stadium guide also confirms that regular shuttle buses from the stadium to the airport, situated only 13km away, mean that anyone arriving specifically for a match won’t need more than 30-40 minutes to reach the stadium. The main Palma motorway connects Estadi de Son Moix with the airport and this way traffic jams are almost always avoided.

After the recently finished renovation, Real Mallorca stadium guide is happy to announce new options for the visitors of Estadi de Son Moix for eating and drinking. The grounds remain very welcoming to all and as Alfonso Díaz, general manager of Real Mallorca, who has overseen the renovation work from day one says: “An older fan can come to the stands with their sandwich, and someone who wants to experience football from a different perspective will find it in the VIP Hospitality zone,”

The VIP Hospitality zone now has a new sports bar, it has replaced the old MallorCafé. The bar offers craft beer and other beverages. Many you can take away with you to your seat too.

The other new addition to the Real Mallorca stadium guide experience is the luxurious restaurant. The seats allow a perfect view of the pitch and Serra de Tramuntana. The menu has a lot of promise too and some of the best chefs from the Balearic Islands work there.

All this guarantees that any culinary needs and demands will be well catered for when you decide to visit Estadi de Son Moix.

Our Real Mallorca stadium guide could get a mile-long if we list all the places you can stay within a few miles from Estadi Mallorca Son Moix. The fact that the stadium is only 3km away from the bustling city centre and 13km from the airport means that within an hour’s drive, there are over a hundred hotels welcoming tourists.

The main business industry of the Balearic Islands is tourism and finding a place to stay is one of the easiest things for those wanting to visit Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.
