Eberechi Eze's debut season at Arsenal had a mix of everything — the highs and the lows — but in all, the attacking midfielder's return to his boyhood club, who released him at the age of 13, has been a tale of gains rather than loss.

Eze joined the red-and-white half of North London from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2025 in a £67.5 million deal, having nearly signed for arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur before Arsenal swooped late to seal his signature.

The Arsenal faithful wasted no time in crafting a chant for their new man — one that takes a pointed dig at their North London rivals — and it has only grown louder as Eze has made Spurs his favourite opponents.

Five of his seven Premier League goals in the 2025-26 season came against Tottenham, including a hat-trick at the Emirates Stadium on 23 November 2025 and a brace in the reverse fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in February 2026.

The 27-year-old also played his part in helping Arsenal end a 22-year wait for the Premier League title, with his name echoing around the Emirates Stadium whenever he gets on the ball.

The tune, inspired by Michael Bublé's Sway, has become one of the most popular chants among the Gunners faithful  — a testament to just how quickly Eze has won over the Emirates crowd.

In this piece, we take a look at the full lyrics of the Eberechi Eze chant and the story behind how it has become a fan favourite in North London.

Eberechi Eze chant lyrics and tune

Eze's chant is sung to the tune of ‘Sway' by Dean Martin, with the following lyrics:

“We can hear them crying at the Lane,

Ebere Eze, he scores again,

One call with Mik Arteta he said ‘wow',

F**k off Tottenham, I’m a Gooner now!”

Arsenal fans singing the Eberechi Eze song

Did Arsenal fans create another chant for Eberechi Eze?

Beyond the well-known ‘crying at the Lane' song, Arsenal supporters have come up with a second chant for Eberechi Eze.

While the first is rooted in the North London rivalry, this version works as a more general matchday song — keeping the playful dig at Tottenham but focusing on the story of Eze turning them down in favour of Arsenal.

The chant follows the same tune as the Declan Rice ‘magic hat' song, based on the skiffle classic My Old Man's a Dustman, making it easy for fans to pick up.

Lyrics:

Eze's fucking magic,

He wears a magic hat,

He could've played for Tottenham,

But he said no, fuck that!

Eze’s favourite song and its significance to his Arsenal journey

While we have looked into Eze’s chant, we thought it fitting to delve into the former Crystal Palace man’s favourite song and its significance to his journey at Arsenal.

For many supporters, the song became linked to Eze the moment his move to Arsenal was confirmed.

The song featured prominently in his announcement video, with the repeated line “let it all work out” setting the tone as he was unveiled at the Emirates shortly before a thumping win.

The track has followed Eze for some time, reflecting a career shaped by patience and perseverance after being released by Arsenal at a young age.

FGG says

It's not exactly the most original of chants – in fact, it's almost a word-for-word copy of Liverpool's Federico Chiesa song – but Arsenal fans won't really care. Indeed, the idea of it winding a few Liverpool fans up for its lack of originality is probably a bonus.

Catchy chants rarely remain the domain of one club for long nowadays, and Arsenal are not the first or last to fit this tune around one of their players; it's the latest song sweeping through stadiums up and down the country right now.

Throw in the opportunity to poke fun at Spurs too, and this makes it a pretty perfect chant for Gooners.
