England are in line to play two Euro 2028 fixtures away from Wembley Stadium, providing that they qualify for the tournament that they are co-hosting.
Despite their ever-growing wait to win another major trophy, the Euro 2024 runners-up will be heavily backed to win the competition that is being held in England, Scotland, Wales and Republic of Ireland.
However, with UEFA unable to offer automatic places to more than two host nations, the decision was made that all four host countries will need to go through the regular qualification process in order to book their space at the 24-team tournament.
When London were one of 11 cities to host games at Euro 2020, England played six of their seven fixtures at Wembley Stadium, their only “away” match taking place at the quarter-final stage when they played Ukraine in Rome.
Should they advance through to the Finals of the next edition of the European Championship, BBC Sport claims that one of their three group fixtures will not be held at their North London home.
With no last-16 matches due to be played at Wembley, it means that there is the possibility of two England games being held away from the national stadium.

Which stadiums could stage two England matches at Euro 2028?
Although there are eight other stadiums that will be staging matches at Euro 2028, there are only five possible options for the Three Lions.
They will not play any matches at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, Glasgow's Hampden Park or the Dublin Arena.
England's possibilities are all Premier League stadiums, with Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Villa Park, Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium and Newcastle United's St James' Park the options available.
While there has been no confirmation as it stands, the official launch of Euro 2028 takes place on November 12 where a full schedule will be revealed.
An exact start date for qualifying is yet to be confirmed.
