Coventry City and visiting supporters could face tighter parking rules around the Coventry Building Society Arena this season.

Fresh proposals would expand matchday parking restrictions to cover additional residential streets near the stadium.

Coventry Arena facing further restrictions on a matchday

Parking restrictions around the CBS Arena could be extended after Coventry City Council backed proposals to include more nearby residential roads in the existing matchday permit scheme, per the BBC.

Currently, residents living within designated zones require permits to park on home matchdays and during concerts at the stadium, helping to prevent supporters from filling nearby streets.

Now, following a petition signed by 112 residents, Cossington Road could be added to the existing controlled parking zone.

The street sits just outside the current permit boundary, despite neighbouring Lythalls Lane already being covered by the restrictions.

If approved following a 21-day public consultation, residents and their regular visitors would need to apply for digital permits allowing them to park during Coventry City matches and major events at the arena.

The council is also considering a separate permit zone covering streets much further from the stadium, including Glentworth Avenue, Malmesbury Road and Charlecote Road.

As these roads lie outside the existing controlled area, any new scheme would require at least 60% of residents to support the proposal before it could proceed.

Should objections be received during the consultation period, the council will review the feedback before deciding whether to amend or abandon the plans.

FGG says: Heading to the CBS Arena? Planning ahead will be key

Expanding parking restrictions is likely to frustrate some Coventry supporters and away fans who rely on residential streets for matchday parking.

If the proposals are approved, driving to the CBS Arena could become more challenging, making it even more important for supporters to plan their journeys and parking options well in advance.
