Kylian Mbappe has experienced some of the biggest atmospheres European football has to offer during his career.

But one Premier League stadium has clearly stayed with the Real Madrid star after a memorable Champions League night in England.

Newcastle United's St James' Park left an impression on Kylian Mbappe

Newcastle United's St James' Park has earned plenty of praise from visiting players over the years, but few endorsements carry quite as much weight as Mbappe's.

The France international experienced the famous atmosphere first-hand when Paris Saint-Germain travelled to Tyneside for a Champions League group-stage clash in October 2023.

Newcastle produced one of the great European nights in the club's recent history, sweeping PSG aside 4-1 in front of a raucous crowd inside the 52,000-seater stadium.

The noise generated by the home supporters clearly left its mark on Mbappe, who recalled the occasion when discussing the best atmospheres he has experienced.

“Newcastle. When we went with Paris. I think it was the first time they came back to the Champions League in 20 years. It was insane,” Mbappe said.

The result and atmosphere combined to make it a night that remains firmly in the memory of one of the world's biggest stars, with St James' Park once again showcasing why it is regarded as one of English football's most intimidating venues for visiting teams.

FGG says: St James' Park belongs in any Premier League atmosphere debate

It is difficult to argue with Mbappe on this one.

St James' Park has a unique combination of steep stands, a huge following and a city that lives and breathes Newcastle United, making it one of the Premier League's standout atmospheres.

There are plenty of contenders across the division, but when the noise levels reach what they did against PSG, St James' Park is absolutely in the conversation for the best atmosphere in the Premier League.
