The 2024/25 season was one of the very best in Newcastle United's history. The Magpies ended their 70-year wait for a major trophy by beating Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, making Eddie Howe and his squad of players automatic legends at the club.
On top of lifting the Carabao Cup, Newcastle also finished inside the Champions League qualification places in the Premier League. It means that for the second time in three years, Newcastle will be part of Europe's elite.
However, over the summer, the momentum the club carried with them from the end of last season has evaporated. Their star player, Alexander Isak, has sent shockwaves through the sport by asking to leave the club, and they now face the prospect of starting the 2025/26 season without the Swedish striker.
As a result, this pre-season for Newcastle has two layers to it. On one hand, Howe needs to get his players up to speed ahead of a big campaign in Europe. On the other hand, they perhaps need to start learning how to play with Isak at the top of the pitch.
Pre-season hasn't gotten off to the best of starts on the pitch, either, as the Magpies suffered a stunning 4-0 loss to Celtic at Celtic Park on 19 July. They have since travelled to Asia, and if you are interested in getting tickets for the Newcastle pre-season tour, our guide below has you covered.
