There was plenty of excitement in the air when Manchester City signed Savinho from Troyes in the summer of 2024, but unfortunately for both the player and the club, the move hasn't quite worked out as planned.

While there have been flashes of brilliance, Savinho has ultimately disappointed in a blue shirt so far, and large sections of the Man City support have already given up on the Brazilian despite him still being just 21 years of age.

It hasn't always been this way, though, and there was a point during his first season at the club where the City faithful created a chant for him.

Savinho chant, lyrics and tune

The Savinho chant is sung to the tune of ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!' by Dean Martin. The lyrics are as follows:

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,

But the fire is so delightful,

City is the place to go,

Savio, Savio, Savio

Unsurprisingly, this Man City chant was first created during one of the club's European away trips during the winter months of the 2024/25 season. After all, it would be odd for a Christmas song to be sung in the middle of August.

The chant was also briefly sung by Man City fans for Joao Cancelo, with the exact same lyrics used, other than Cancelo's name being swapped for Savio.

There are some fans who may be confused by the use of ‘Savio' instead of ‘Savinho' for the chant. While the player has been known as Savinho since signing for Man City, he previously went by ‘Savio', which is actually his real name.

FGG says: Not the best football Christmas chant

There are several football chants that can only be sung during the Christmas period, and while this falls into that category, it is far from the best. For starters, ‘City' isn't a place, so the lyrics don't make an awful lot of sense, and secondly, it is a rip-off of the Cancelo chant. Regardless of all that, it's not a chant you should expect to hear anytime soon, given the player has fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium.
