Derby County top the list

All fanbases in the top 10 biggest League One attendances of the season deserve a huge amount of credit, but none more so than the Derby County faithful. Not only did the Rams top the list, with their effort of 4,995 fans against Barnsley claiming first prize, but they also featured on the list on two other occasions.

Their efforts at both Peterborough and Wigan away were enough to also secure them the eighth and ninth spots on the list too.

Two more teams who deserve an enormous amount of praise for their efforts are the passionate supporters of Portsmouth and Carlisle, both of whom feature on this list twice each. Pompey fans for their sizeable crowds against Charlton and Peterborough, while Carlisle supporters made the list for their efforts against Bolton and Wigan.

In total, there were six away day attendances that exceeded the 4,000 people mark in League One this term, suggesting that supporters are still extremely dedicated to following their team all over the country.

Many supporters were quick to point out the fact that the vast majority of the fixtures these crowds were achieved in were derby games, however, that is to be expected as these are the games that often garner the most interest.

Aside from that, the general consensus saw Carlisle earn a lot of praise for featuring on the list twice despite their relatively remote location in the country. One fan took to X, formerly Twitter, to say: “Credit to Carlisle. Even North West opponents are a slog for them.”

While another simply added: “That's some effort from Carlisle.”
