Liverpool fans in Eindhoven: Full matchday guide to Philips Stadion

On Wednesday, 29 January, Liverpool will take on PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League. The match will be played at Philips Stadion – a venue that Liverpool have played at three times in the past. The Reds have played against PSV six times in the Champions League, winning five and drawing one.

Arne Slot’s side will be looking to top the Champions League table after winning their opening seven matches, including victories against Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.

There will be a significant number of Liverpool fans in Eindhoven this week for the final matchday in the league phase of this year’s competition. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming game.

How many Liverpool fans are going to Eindhoven?

Liverpool were given a ticket allocation of 1,645 tickets for this match, along with an additional 200 top-category seats for players and staff to allocate. All of these match tickets have been sold which means there will be close to 2,000 Liverpool fans in Eindhoven this week.

Given that Liverpool have already qualified for the round of 16 and have already visited the stadium three times in the past, it isn’t expected that there will be too many supporters travelling without tickets.

Where will Liverpool fans sit at Philips Stadion?

The away section at Philips Stadion is located in the upper tier of the north-west corner. To get to the away section, travelling supporters are taken through a tunnel outside at the north-east part of the ground that goes directly to the away end. Turnstiles at Philips Stadion will open two hours before the game kicks off on Wednesday.

The away section is extremely steep, meaning the club has advised supporters to remain seated during the match. Liverpool provided the following guidance on their fan information guide for the upcoming away trip: “The away terracing is quite steep and that the rows have no rails or barriers, with only the top couple of inches of the seat in front acting as a divide. For this reason, supporters are advised to be seated and refrain from standing.”
