Nottingham Forest supporters have a proud tradition of creating an incredible atmosphere at the City Ground.
The two-time European Cup winners have one of the most recognisable fanbases in English football, with songs and chants celebrating the club's history, players and connection with the city.
From the famous ‘Mull of Kintyre' to terrace favourites such as ‘You Are My Forest', there are plenty of songs that can be heard ringing around the City Ground on matchdays.
FootballGroundGuide takes a look at the lyrics to some of the most popular Nottingham Forest football chants.
Mull of Kintyre
No Nottingham Forest song is more closely associated with the club than ‘Mull of Kintyre'.
Originally released by Paul McCartney and Wings in 1977, the song was adapted by Forest supporters during the club's glory years in the late 1970s.
The Forest version has become a key part of the matchday experience at the City Ground, with the song traditionally played before kick-off before the music fades and supporters take over.
The lyrics are:
“City Ground,
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh City Ground,
Far have I travelled and much have I seen,
Goodison, Anfield are places I've been,
Maine Road, Old Trafford still echo to the sound,
Of the boys in the red from the City Ground,
City Ground,
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh City Ground,
Passing the leather like Cloughie's great men,
Please take us back to the days I knew then,
Games when we sang in the Nottingham choir,
When we thrashed the sheep from Derbyshire,
City Ground,
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh City Ground,
Smiles in the sunshine, football like champagne,
Still take me back to where my memories remain,
Flickering embers growing higher and higher,
And a new squad of players for us to inspire,
City Ground,
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh City Ground,
City Ground,
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh City Ground.”
The song has become synonymous with Forest's home games and is one of the most distinctive pre-match traditions in English football.
You Are My Forest
Another favourite among Nottingham Forest supporters is ‘You Are My Forest', sung to the tune of the classic song You Are My Sunshine.
It is regularly heard at the City Ground and on away days, with the simple lyrics expressing the loyalty supporters have towards their club.
The lyrics are:
“You are my Forest,
My only Forest,
You make me happy when skies are grey,
You'll never notice
How much I love you,
Please don't take my Forest away.”
The chant is often repeated several times, making it an easy song for large sections of the crowd to join in with.
We All Follow the Forest
‘We All Follow the Forest' is another traditional song that has been sung by Nottingham Forest supporters for generations.
Sung to the tune of Land of Hope and Glory, it combines the club's travelling support with a few familiar digs at Forest's East Midlands rivals.
The lyrics are:
“Through the seasons before us,
Down through history,
We will follow the Forest,
Onto victory.
Nananana,
We hate Derby County,
We hate Leicester, too,
They're s**t,
We hate Sheffield United,
But Forest, we love you.“
The song is particularly popular among travelling supporters, with its simple tune making it easy to sing throughout an away day.

Morgan Gibbs-White Chant
Morgan Gibbs-White quickly became a favourite among Nottingham Forest supporters after joining the club from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2022.
The midfielder's performances have inspired his own chant, which has become one of the more popular modern songs in the Forest songbook.
Sung to the tune of Heaven Is a Place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle, the lyrics are:
“Oh, baby, do you know what's worth,
Morgan Gibbs-White is the best on earth,
Left foot, right foot, he's just what we need,
He's taking Forest to the Champions League.“
The chant was first heard during the 2022/23 season but became increasingly popular as Gibbs-White enjoyed an outstanding campaign in 2024/25.
Forest ‘Til I Die
Another straightforward chant that captures the loyalty of Nottingham Forest supporters is ‘Forest ‘Til I Die.'
The song is often used to show continued support for the club regardless of results and can be heard around the City Ground and at away matches.
The lyrics are:
“Forest 'til I die,
Forest 'til I die,
I know I am,
I'm sure I am,
Forest 'til I die.“
The simplicity makes it another chant that the whole ground can quickly join in with.
