After a packed month of fixtures in October following the international break, the Championship is starting to take shape, and fans of clubs up and down the country have put in the hard graft to travel and support their sides on the road.

Away days over the month were made that much harder by the worsening weather across the UK, not to mention Storms Austen and Beolo hammering the nation.

Here, Football Ground Guide takes a look at which Championship fans travelled the furthest in October 2026, based on the staight-line distances between the stadiums rounded to the nearest mile.

Portsmouth fans travelled the furthest in October

Amongst all 24 Championship teams, Portsmouth fans were handed the longest set of away trips in October, racking up 1,045 miles across four fixtures on the road to Southampton's St Mary's (32 miles), Norwich City's Carrow Road (324 miles), Wolverhampton Wanderers' Molineux (264 miles) and Burnley's Turf Moor (425).

Second on the list are the Cardiff City faithful, who amassed 956 miles over three outings, heading to Blackburn Rovers (317 miles), Middlesbrough (460 miles) and the comparatively close Wolves (179 miles).

Coming in at third place are Charlton Athletic supporters, who were loyal enough to trek 855 miles over three away days to Burnley (371 miles), Watford (44 miles) and Middlesbrough (440 miles).

Blackburn fans also tallied up a substantial 803 miles across the month, heading to Bristol City (316 miles) and West Bromwich Albion (174 miles), before rounding out October by paying a visit to Swansea City (313 miles) in Wales.

In fifth are Bristol City‘s loyal crowd, who travelled 742 miles in total over three away days that were each over 200 miles. First to Charlton Athletic (229 miles), then on to Stoke (217 miles) and Bolton Wanderers' Tougsheet Community Stadium (296 miles)

Stoke City fans travelled the shortest distance in October

At the opposite end of the scale, fans of Stoke enjoyed the shortest set of away journeys of any Championship club, with the Potters travelling just 148 miles to face Bolton (87 miles) and Derby County (61 miles).

Lincoln City were handed the second shortest trips in October. With only two fixtures on the road, supporters racked up 323 miles, visiting Sheffield United (80 miles) before heading to The Den (243 miles) to take on Millwall in London.

Third from bottom land Birmingham City‘s travelling army, who made the short stop over to West Bromwich Albion (nine miles), and later headed to Cardiff (179 miles) and Lincoln (151 miles) for a 339-mile month.

Queens Park Rangers kicked off October with a London derby against West Ham United (19 miles), before making the trip to second-city Birmingham (193 miles), and finishing off with a showdown at Southampton (130 miles) by the coast.

The Red Dragons, Wrexham, were also one of the five clubs whose fans travelled the shortest distance in October, though each of their away days were still beyond the 100-mile mark. Trips to Derby (131 miles), Blackburn (104 miles) and Sheffield United (135 miles) saw fans tally up 370 miles overall.
