To say Pep Guardiola's time at Manchester City has been a success would be an understatement. The Spaniard has set new standards in the Premier League over the past decade, and at present, he has a trophy haul in English football that is only bettered by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Guardiola joined the club in the summer of 2016 with plenty of expectation on his shoulders after successful stints at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and he has delivered at least one trophy in seven of the nine seasons he has been in charge so far.

Shortly after Guardiola joined the club, the Man City faithful gave him his very own Man City chant. For all the key information on the chant, we've got you covered below.

Pep Guardiola chant, lyrics and tune

The Pep Guardiola chant is sung to the tune of Glad All Over by The Dave Clark Five. The lyrics are as follows:

Say that you want me, say that you want me,

All of the time, all of the time,

Say that you need me, say that you need me,

Always be mine, always be mine,

Cos we've got Guardiola, we've got Guardiola

Pep Guardiola chant background

The Guardiola chant was unveiled during Guardiola's first season at the club, with the fans clearly seeing an opportunity between the Spaniard's name and ‘Glad All Over'.

In fairness to City fans, Guardiola's first season at the club wasn't all that impressive, so chanting this could have ended up backfiring on them. However, with the benefit of hindsight, they were smart to back him through those first-season hurdles.

In December 2017, Guardiola acknowledged the chant after a win against Leicester at the King Power Stadium. The victory left his side in full control of the title race, and he celebrated by going over to the travelling City fans after the game to join in with the chant.

FGG says: A chant that will forever be attached to him

This football chant has now been sung for nearly ten years, so there is no chance of it going away any time soon, especially as Guardiola keeps signing new contracts at the Etihad Stadium. The song may well be historically linked with Crystal Palace, but City fans have made it their own.
