Rodrigo Bentancur has been a big success in North London since signing for Tottenham from Juventus back in 2022.

The Uruguayan came to the club with a mixed reputation, but, injuries aside, he has gone on to surpass expectations, becoming one of the club's most consistent performers.

His impressive form off the bat for Spurs saw him become an instant fan favourite at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and it wasn't long before the Spurs faithful gave him his own Tottenham chant.

For all the most important information on the Rodrigo Bentancur chant, including the lyrics and tune, we have you covered below.

Rodrigo Bentancur chant, lyrics and tune

The Rodrigo Bentancur chant is sung to the tune of ‘She's Electric' by Oasis. The lyrics are as follows:

He's the reason,

We'll be playing on Wednesdays next season,

He came with his mate from Sweden,

It's Bentancur

The Bentancur chant was created in the midst of Tottenham's pursuit of a place inside the Premier League's top four during the 2021/22 season.

The Uruguayan was signed in the January transfer window that season, and his instant impact on performances and results are why Tottenham fans sang that he was the reason that they'd be playing on Wednesdays (Champions League nights) the following season.

The song also has a nod to the fact that Bentancur signed for the club on the same day that Dejan Kulusevski also joined them from Juventus. Both men should be regarded as good signings for the club, given how they have performed for Spurs over the years.

FGG says: A chant that could be modified

While this football chant is a good one, it's perhaps only relevant during seasons where Spurs are trying to merely qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Although the club are still in a position where that is their main goal each season, there could come a point where they are playing for more than that, and at that point the chant should be modified.
