Away fans’ guide to Istanbul: Key information for Liverpool fans

Liverpool's Champions League campaign got off to the best possible start, with the Reds coming out on top in a five-goal thriller against Atletico Madrid at Anfield. That win has set them on their way as they look to qualify for the round of 16 without the need for a playoff match.

Next up for the Reds is a trip to Istanbul for a match against Galatasaray. For some Liverpool fans, this is a bucket list trip, given the aura that surrounds a trip to this part of the world for football matches.

Galatasaray fans are considered some of the loudest in world football, and their ultras are fearsome, to say the least.

If you are a Liverpool fan heading over to Istanbul for the match, here is everything you need to know.

How many Liverpool fans are going to RAMS Park

RAMS Park is of a decent size, with a capacity of 52,600, so there should be a decent Liverpool presence inside the stadium on matchday. Galatasaray have given Liverpool an allocation of 2,502 tickets for the match, and all of these sold out quickly, which isn't a surprise given how well Liverpool travel in Europe.

To be eligible for a ticket in the away end, you had to be a season ticket holder or member who had attended two or more Champions League away matches last season.

It's not exactly cheap to get to Istanbul so it isn't anticipated that many Liverpool fans will travel over without tickets.

Where will Liverpool fans sit at RAMS Park?

Liverpool fans will be located as far away from the pitch as possible for the match, to help Galatasaray fans create an intimidating atmosphere for the Liverpool players on the pitch. Specifically, the away section at RAMS Park is in the upper tier of the south-east corner of the stadium, in gates 418, 419, 420 and 42.

Liverpool fans are being urged to get to the ground earlier than usual to avoid any trouble at the turnstiles with local authorities and opposition supporters.
