How to get Manchester City tickets: What you need to know

Manchester City's dominance on the field, with their Treble-winning season in 2023, has seen increasing demand for tickets at the Etihad to see star names like Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.

Pep Guardiola's side is the team that everyone wants to watch these days, and for good reason. They rarely disappoint, scoring plenty of goals and entertaining. It seems it is harder to get your hands on a ticket for a game as a result, whether that be for a Premier League match, a Champions League match or one of the Cup competitions that the Cityzens take part in.

Here is how to get Man City tickets at the Etihad.

How to get Man City tickets

Manchester City offer three types of matchday tickets to fans, each with their own prices and availability.

General tickets

General tickets – for a standard seat at the Etihad for any matchday – regularly sell out at the Etihad, and from the 2023/24 season, Manchester City have begun selling these for the full season well in advance.

On Thursday 20 July, all available tickets were released for the Premier League home games scheduled for August-December, and many for those taking place between January and May.

This leaves fans looking to buy tickets less far in advance in a bit of a pickle.

First of all, matches like the Manchester Derby or against Liverpool and Arsenal, these will be particularly hard to acquire. You're likely to be paying a premium on resale sites like SeatPick.

Second of all, you'll be a lot more likely to acquire tickets for games in the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup and even the UEFA Champions League. The Etihad does not always sell out, and for later-notice, mid-week games, you could well find an easy route for a ticket on the official club website. Still, get on to the website as soon as fixtures are announced for your best chance.

Becoming a Manchester City member gives you the best opportunity of getting tickets, as you'll been sent a text or email alert when tickets go on general sale.

‘Bar' ticket

These tickets are a little easier to get but more expensive, the exact price depending on who Manchester City are playing. For example, for the game against Everton on 10 February 2024, tickets of this availability range from £220 upwards, while the Manchester derby is priced at £399 upwards.

But what do you get for paying the premium for a ‘Bar' ticket?

  • Match ticket
  • Access to premium food and drinks
  • Relaxed atmosphere
  • Padded seats

It's up to you if that's worth it.

Hospitality

If you really want to treat yourself and go for the luxury experience then these are the tickets for you. Whilst you'll have to pay a premium price for them, you get a premium experience. A little more expensive than the ‘Bar' tickets, you do get the added bonus of fine dining and being surrounded by luxury (according to the Manchester City website). To help compare the difference in price, a ‘Hospitality' ticket for the Ethiad to watch Manchester City vs Everton is £290 upwards, compared to the £220 upwards price for a ‘Bar' ticket.

One of the key benefits is that these tickets are available for nearly every game, so if you wish to watch the game in style, you can. Here is exactly what you get for a ‘Hospitality' ticket.

  • Match Ticket
  • Premium padded & heated seats
  • Fine dining
  • Luxury surroundings

Manchester City Women's Tickets

The increasingly popular Women's Super League has more readily available tickets and at a cheaper price than the men's games.

Manchester City Women's games are played at the Academy stadium, a smaller venue in the shadow of the Etihad. It's still a great place to watch football.

There are two types of tickets you can purchase to watch the Manchester City Women's team. There are general tickets, in which you just get a seat to watch the match. These can be bought online and range from £6 to £11.

But if you wish to watch the match at the Academy Stadium in style, you can purchase a Hospitality ticket, which are priced from £55 upwards. This is what you would get with the Hospitality Package:

  • Pre-match hospitality in the City Football Academy
  • Three-course meal
  • Selective drinks package (beer, wine, soft drinks)
  • Padded seat on the halfway line

If you can't get to the Etihad and need your fix of watching one of the best teams in the world, then the obvious places to watch Manchester City are (for those in the UK and Ireland) Sky Sports and TNT Sports when they are playing in the Premier League.

For fans who are taking an interest further afield, US Today and Peacock Sports are the alternatives.
