Prestatyn Town Welcome SignBastion Gardens or the Motion Finance Stadium as it is now called under a corporate sponsorship deal is located five minutes walk north of Prestatyn town centre, between the railway line and the beach front. The ground is reached by an obscure driveway at the end of the suburban Bastion Garden road. Here we find a modest sized car park leading onto the rear of the social club and dressing room building. Walking through the home turnstile we emerge behind the goal at the social club end. This side of the ground has a narrow area of flat standing, formed by the border of the car park whilst most of the space is taken up by the two separately built single storey buildings, the dressing rooms which are behind the goal, and the social club and offices which lead to the corner. This side is essentially flat standing, however, there is a lean to roof over the players’ entrance which will at least provide a small amount of cover if the heavens open. Looking from beneath this cover behind the goal and to the left is the Bastion Gardens side, a narrow strip of flat standing concrete hemmed in by the rear gardens of the housing. Looking to the far end of the ground is the open Bastion Road/training ground end which is also a narrow strip of flat standing concrete allocated to visiting supporters. Behind this is a small training ground, complete with goalposts leading to the border and the away supporters entrance turnstile in one corner.

Looking to the far right we find the ground’s only covered accommodation, the Martin Walsh Stand, which has been extended in recent years to run the full length of the pitch. This narrow side backs onto Prestatyn cricket ground and has 500 plastic seats-originally from Shrewsbury Town’s Gay Meadow on a shallow seating deck, with a multitude of slim columns and a low roof which provides very little shelter from the elements.

As far as we are aware visiting supporters are allocated the Bastion Road/training ground end, which is reached by a separate turnstile along Bastion Road as its leads towards the beach front. This area of the ground is flat standing, with the training ground behind. food on offer inside the ground includes the standard football fayre of Cheeseburgers (£2.70), Burgers (£2.50), Hot Dogs (£2.50), Pies (£1.50), Sausage Rolls (£1), Chips (£1.50) and Curry Sauce (30p).

There is a Social Club at the ground that welcomes supporters. Mike Edwards informs me; ‘A couple of hundred yards up from the ground going towards the sea front is the Nova Centre. Inside it has a bar which also shows televised sport.’ Otherwise, there are a number of bars and eating places to be found in the town centre, around a 10-15 minute walk away. These include a Wetherspoons outlet called the William Morgan and Archies Bar, both of which are on the High Street. The latter is featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

From The East
Follow the A548 towards Prestatyn. On the approach to the town continue on this road as it turns to pass over the railway line. Close to the town centre, you will see signposts to the railway station, at the Marine Road / Victoria Road junction turn in the opposite direction, to your right to take you into Bastion Road. Then take the second right turn into Bastion Gardens. The ground entrance, home turnstiles, car park and social club are reached by a driveway at the end of the road. Alternatively, if the car park is full or if you wish to enter the ground by the away supporters turnstile, continue further along Bastion Road and the entrance is on the right-hand side.

From The West
Follow the A548 Victoria Road from Rhyl into Prestatyn. As you see the signpost to the railway station turn in the opposite direction, to your left to take you into Bastion Road.

From The South
Follow the A547 from Rhuddlan towards Prestatyn town centre. Follow the signposts to the town centre, turning left into the B5120 Ffordd Pendyffryn. Stay on this road as it passes the bus station on the left-hand side and then once over the railway bridge take the right-hand fork and follow the road as it twists to the right then left. At the Victoria Road crossroads continue straight ahead into Bastion Road.

Car Parking

There is limited parking available at the ground itself. Street parking is available nearby.

Prestatyn Railway Station is only a 5-10 minute walk away from the Bastion Gardens ground. Prestatyn benefits from a good regular train service on weekends and weekday evenings, with services between Holyhead-Conwy-Chester and the long distance South Wales to North Wales service Milford Haven-Cardiff- Shrewsbury-Chester-Holyhead.

Prestatyn Railway station has a central isle platform. When you step off the train look for the footbridge over the railway line, turn left at the top of the steps and walk over the railway line. Follow the road straight out of the station building towards the beach. At the cross roads continue walking straight on into Bastion Road. After 5 minutes walk turn right into Bastion Gardens, the main social club entrance, car park and turnstile is at the end of the driveway. Alternatively, for the away supporters entrance, keep following the road towards the beach and after a further two minute walk you will see the ground on the right-hand side. The away entrance is a gateway with an ironwork PTFC above it.
