Villa Park is one of the most atmospheric grounds in English football, and much of that comes from the Holte End, a stand famous for its noise, passion and tradition.

Aston Villa supporters have built a songbook that mixes pride, humour and deep emotional connection, with several chants now woven into the club’s identity.

Here are the lyrics to some of the most iconic Aston Villa football chants, including Holte Enders in the Sky, Villa Till I Die, Allez Allez Allez and more.

Holte Enders in the Sky

Holte Enders in the Sky is one of Aston Villa’s most famous and recognisable chants, sung to the tune of the Johnny Cash version of ‘Ghost Riders in the Sky‘.

It has long been associated with the Holte End and carries a sense of identity and tradition that stretches back decades.

What many supporters don’t realise is that the full version has never really been sung on the terraces for many, many years.

The extended lyrics are a back‑formation created from the shorter, popular chant that fans still use today. Inside Villa Park, you will only ever really hear the familiar refrain:

“Yippeeh aye aaaayyyy, yippeeh aye ooohhhh, Holte Enders in the sky.”

The full version below exists as part of Villa folklore, but it is not often performed on matchdays.

Full lyrics:

“As I walked down to Villa Park one dark and dusty day, I spied a poor old City fan running far away. I said to that poor City fan, it looks like you must die, ‘cuz you have seen the glory of … Holte Enders in the sky

“Yippeeh aye aaaayyyy yippeeh aye ooohhhh, Holte Enders in the sky.

“We chased him through the terraces, we chased him down the streets, but little did that City fan know that death must be his fate, ‘Cuz Villa fans rule Birmingham and City fans know why, ‘Cuz they have seen the glory of… Holte Enders in the sky

“Yippeeh aye aaaaahhhh yippee aye oooohhhhh, Holte Enders in the sky.”

Villa Till I Die

One of the simplest but most powerful chants in the Villa songbook, Villa Till I Die is a declaration of loyalty that echoes around Villa Park during big moments.

“Villa till I die, Villa till I die, I know I am, And so are you…”

It’s a chant that unites supporters of all ages.

Whether Villa are pushing for a winner or defending a lead, this is often the first song to rise from the stands.

Allez Allez Allez

A modern favourite, sung home and away, celebrating Villa’s history and the loyalty of their travelling support.

“Every week we follow the boys in claret and blue, we even conquered Europe in 1982.

“The Villa boys from Aston, we travel near and far, you can hear us singing from the stands of Villa Park

“Allez Allez Allez, Allez Allez Allez, Allez Allez Allez…”

Hi Ho Aston Villa

Another popular Villa anthem, Hi Ho Aston Villa, is sung to the tune of Jeff Beck’s 1960s hit ‘Hi Ho Silver Lining'.

It’s a familiar favourite at Villa Park and often breaks out when the team are on top.

“Hi Ho Aston Villa, Everywhere we go, Watching Villa play the football, All the lads and lasses, Smiles upon their faces…”

The moment it’s sung usually depends on how the game is going, but it’s also played in the club’s Fan Zone before every home match.

Many clubs have adapted the tune for their own teams, including Midlands rivals Wolves, but Villa’s version remains one of the best known.

Super John McGinn

A chant dedicated to the club captain John McGinn, one of Villa Park's most popular players, sung to a tune used by several other English clubs, but made unmistakably Villa by the lyrics.

We’ve got McGinn, Super John McGinn, I just don’t think you understand, He’s Unai Emery’s man, he’s better than Zidane, we’ve got Super John McGinn!”

It’s one of the loudest player chants at Villa Park and often breaks out the moment McGinn wins a tackle, drives forward or even rallies the crowd.
