The 2026-27 Champions League will take supporters to some of the most iconic stadiums in European football, as well as a selection of smaller and less familiar venues. But which ground offers the best overall matchday experience?

FootballGroundGuide has rated every stadium out of 100 across five equally weighted categories – View, Accessibility, Overall Atmosphere, Access and History, with each factor scored out of 20. The final ranking combines those scores to find the best overall stadium experience.

We have also used the stadium each club is actually using for its Champions League home fixtures, meaning there are a few notable changes from their usual domestic grounds.

So, let's take a look at this year's Champions League venues.

What are the best stadiums in the 2026-27 Champions League?

At the top of the standings is Real Madrid's Bernabeu, which scores an impressive 98/100. Few stadiums can compete with its combination of modern facilities, superb views, central location and extraordinary European history. The Bernabeu has been transformed into one of the world's most impressive football venues while retaining the aura that comes with Real Madrid's unrivalled Champions League pedigree.

Second is Borussia Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park, which scores 95. The stadium's famous Yellow Wall gives it a maximum 20/20 for atmosphere, while its size, sightlines and European history ensure it is much more than simply a huge ground. For sheer intensity on a Champions League night, there are few better places to be.

Barcelona's revamped Camp Nou also scores 95 and takes third place. Its enormous scale, iconic design and remarkable history make it one of the competition's standout venues. While its size means it cannot offer quite the same intimacy as some of the smaller grounds, the combination of view and history is almost impossible to match.

Anfield sits fourth with 94, helped by maximum scores for atmosphere and history. Liverpool's home remains one of football's most celebrated stadiums, with the Kop capable of turning European nights into something genuinely special. It loses a few points on accessibility and overall facilities compared with some newer venues, but its character more than makes up for it.

Rounding out the top five is Paris Saint-Germain's Parc des Princes, with 93 points. Its compact bowl, excellent location and impressive matchday atmosphere make it one of Europe's best traditional football stadiums, while its history ensures it remains a heavyweight despite being smaller than several of the continent's giant arenas.

What are the worst stadiums in the 2026-27 Champions League?

At the bottom of our ranking is Bodo/Glimt's Aspmyra Stadion on 70 points. Its atmosphere is actually one of its biggest strengths and the Arctic setting makes it an intriguing Champions League destination. However, its relatively modest size, remote location and limited history cost it heavily against Europe's elite stadiums.

Sabah, who will play at the Baku Olympic Stadium, ranks 35th with 71 points. It has a modern bowl design, sizeable capacity and its position in the capital give it respectable scores for accessibility and access, but the running track creates a significant gap between supporters and the pitch. Its relatively limited Champions League history also keeps it towards the bottom of the list.

LASK's Oberosterreich Arena is next on 75. It can provide a strong atmosphere and a perfectly respectable view of the action, but scores lower for access and history than the established Champions League giants. The fact that it is being used for LASK's European fixtures also means it lacks some of the identity associated with the club's regular home.

Villarreal's Estadio de la Ceramica scores 77 and is another venue that performs better than its position might suggest. Its intimate nature is a positive, but the ground does not have the same European history or all-round accessibility as many of those above it.

Viking's Lyse Arena, on 78, completes the bottom five and follows a similar pattern of having a strong atmosphere, but fewer points in the areas that separate the biggest stadiums from the rest.
