Sunderland away fan guide 2025-26: Full list of Premier League away fixtures
Sunderland fans wave flags in Championship Play-Off Final against Sheffield United Wembley Stadium on May 24

Sunderland are back in the Premier League after a lengthy eight-year absence, having secured a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in the playoff final at Wembley on May 24.

Nineteen-year-old forward Tom Watson grabbed the headlines for the Black Cats as he netted the all-important goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time to complete a dramatic comeback and fire them back into the top flight.

Despite seeing their form tail off at the business end of the season and managing just one point from the final six games, the Black Cats secured a fourth-placed finish in the Championship last term to book their spot in the promotion playoffs.

Regis Le Bris's men had to dig deep in the playoffs, as they needed a last-gasp strike from Daniel Ballard in extra time to salvage a 1-1 draw against Coventry City in the second leg of the semi-finals on May 13 and complete a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Sunderland found themselves behind in the final when Tyrese Campbell broke the for Sheffield in the 25th minute, but Eliezer Mayenda restored parity in the 76th minute before substitute Watson struck in the 95th minute to complete the turnaround.

French coach Les Bris will lead Sunderland to their Premier League outing since suffering relegation in the 2016/17 campaign on August 16 when they welcome West Ham United to the Stadium of Light, while their first road game is scheduled for August 23, when they journey to Turf Moor to face fellow newcomer Burnley.

Below, FGG provides Sunderland's away fixtures for the 2025-26 Premier League season.
