Walsall spent much of the second half of the 2024-25 League Two campaign sitting in the automatic promotion positions.
However, having missed out on a top-three finish courtesy of a 97th-minute Bradford City goal, Walsall made the playoff final before losing tamely to AFC Wimbledon at Wembley Stadium.
As a result, supporters of the West Midlands outfit are bracing themselves for another attempt at promotion under Matt Sadler, who is under pressure to change opinions of him after what can only be described as a capitulation from the end of February.
